For years scientists have been worried about the effects of air pollution on the earth’s natural conditions. Some believe the air inside many houses may be more dangerous than the air outside.
Most scientists agree that every modern house has some kind of indoor pollution. People began to notice the problem in the early 1970s. When builders began making houses and offices, they didn’t want to waste energy. To do this they built buildings that limited the flow of air between inside and outside. They also used man-made building materials which are now known to let out harmful gases.
As the problem became more serious, scientists began searching for a way to deal with it. They discovered a natural pollution control system(系统) for building green plants.
Scientists believe that a plant’s leaves absorb the pollutants(污染物). In exchange(交换) the plant lets out oxygen(氧气) through its leaves. Studies of different plants show that each absorbs different chemicals. So the most effective(有效的) way to clean the air is to plant different kinds of plants.

Scientists are trying to make the deserts into good land again. They want to bring water to the deserts so that people can live and grow food. They are learning a lot about the deserts. But more and more of the earth is becoming deserts all the time. Scientists may not be able to change the deserts in time.?
Why is more and more land becoming deserts Scientists think that people make deserts. People are doing bad things to the earth.?
Some places on the earth don’t get very much rain, but they still don’t become deserts. This is because some green plants are growing there. Small green plants and grass are very important to dry places. Plants don’t let the hot sun make the earth even drier. Plants don’t let the wind blow the dirt(泥土) away. When a little bit of(一点儿) rain falls, the plants hold the water. Without plants, the land can become a desert much more easily.?

What shall we do to save her My suggestion is that we should plant more trees, put the rubbish into dustbins and stop factories from pouring waste directly into the air or rivers. In a word, we have only one earth, we should do everything to protect her, or she will punish us.

Saving the Earth
How to protect the environment becomes one of the biggest problems in the world.
We can find the rubbish not only pollutes our environment but also harmes people’s health. So we should not throw rubbish on the ground. Some factories are pouring waste water into the rivers, the lakes and the fields. It can pollute crops, and sometimes it can kill lots of fish.
We must keep our environment clean and tidy. We have only one earth. We must try our best to protect her, and keep our home more beautiful. It’s our duty to protect the environment.
