Module 2 No Drugs
Listening and Everyday English
Teaching Goals:
● Knowledge and skill:
1) To develop the students’ listening and speaking skills
2) To let the students know different ways of expressing agreement and disagreement
3) To make the students more aware of the dangers of taking drugs
● Process and Methods
1)Encourage the students to speak in class through organizing some practice
2) Teach the students some listening strategies
● Emotion and Values
Through the teaching of this period, make the students more aware of the dangers of drugs-taking,thus understand the phrase to say yes to life, to say no to drug.
Teaching important points:
● To motivate the students to work together.
● To train their listening and speaking skills.
● To enable the students know the dangers associated with drug abuse.
Teaching Difficult Points:
● How to arouse their interest in taking part in classroom activities.
● How to make the students learn to use the vocabulary.
Teaching approach:
task-based teaching, group work, discussion

Teaching procedures:
Step1: Lead-in:
Word Game
Step2: Pre-listening:
Read about the questions in Activity 2 and 3, and then work in pairs to predict what the dialogue is about.
Step3: While-listening:
1) Focus on the questions in activity 2. Listen to the tape and try to understand the dialogue by answering the questions.
2) Work in pairs to share the answers. Try to explain your answers.
3) Call back answers from the students.
4) Listen again and complete the sentences to get more detailed information about the dialogue.
5) Listen to the whole dialogue and try to appreciate it.
Step4: Post-listening:
Share part of the tape script with the students, and explain some important points.
Step5: Everyday English:
1) Brain-storming:
Expressions of Agreement and Disagreement.
2) Read the expressions given in the textbook, work in groups to finish the task.
3) Call back answers from the class, explain some phrases if necessary.
Step6: Discussion
1)Show the whole class some pictures which are related to drugs-taking. Ask some students to describe the pictures if necessary.

3) Ask several groups to present their thoughts.
Step7: Homework
1) To surf the internet for more information about anti-drug action.
2) To make posters against drug abuse.
3) To finish activity2 of Everyday English.
