Preparation
1.flashcards for this unit:cat crocodile duck dog
2.magazines or books with pictures of boys and girls
3.Pencils or crayons for drawing and coloring
Teaching steps:
1.Warm-up
a.Teaching the commands stand up and sit down by using hands gestures.As the teacher says :"Stand up':place your hands side by side ,palmsfacing up and raise your arms .As you say "Sit down."place your hands side by side palms facing down ,and lower your arms .repeat two or three times.
b.Review the words Please and Thank .... Play a Simon -says-style game .Explain that the children are going to listen and follow your commands .If you sayPlease before the commands they should follow your cirection.If you don't use Please ,they should remain still.
c.Begin by saying :Please sit down "and "Please stand up"two or three times .Now vary the exx by sometimes saying only the commands,without Please.
2.Let's say
a.Have children open their books and draw their attention to the picture of the cat .Point to the picture on the page and say"This is a cat"
b.Play the tape .Pointint to the picture matching the word.
c.Now replay the tape and have children touch the picture as they listen.
d.Play the VCD and have the children listen and say"Cat"
e.Repeat the procedure with the word"Crocodile"
f.Do the same with word duck and dog.
3.Say the rhyme
a.read the rhyme to the children ,point to each word.
b.Explain th emain idea of the rhyme to the students.
c.Play th eVCD for the whole rhyme and have the children listen and point to the words and the matching pictures on the page.
d.Play it again and have the children join in,encourageing them to clap to keep the rhyme.
4.Match and color
a.Hold up the word cards.ask children to say these words in English .Review the words learned in this unit and unit one.
b.Have children open their books and look at the pictures .Point to the pictures and ask "What's this Elicit "apple.crocodile,duck,banana cat"
c.Direct children's attention to the English words and read out aloud the words.
d.Now have the children match the words with the pictures of the things .Check their answer by having children say the words and point to the pictures that matches each word.
5.Extenxion.
a.Have children word in pairs .
a.The children in each pair takes turns to ask and look for pictures of boys and girls.
A:Boy,please.
B:finds and points to a picture of a boy.
A::Thank you.
B:Girl,please.
A:Finds and points to a picture of a girl.
B:thank you.
