Teaching aims:
To study new words:hair,ear,mouth,nose
Teaching importances:
To get the new vocabulary :Please thank you.
Teaching difficulties:
To use the sentences with please and thank.
Preparation
a.the teacher's and children's sets of Character Masks.
b.a box or a package.
c.the puppet of Uncle Boocky.
Teaching steps:
1.Warm-up
a.Have a grou of children put on one of thethree Character Masks .Point to a space in the classroom and say"Monkey"Point to different space and say"girl:Point to a third space and say"boy"Have children move into the space that corresponds to the maskthey are wearing .check the exercises by having children say,I'm a monkey" .
b.Play the games for two times.
2.Preview
a.Introduce please and thank you .Mime a little sketch to condy the meaning of each word .
b.Have the children in the first form a line .Hold up a box or a package and show it to the children .If you don't have ether of these a book will do.Explain that the object of the exercises is for the box to reach the end of the line .The bow can only be passed along if the next person in the line says"Please"and Thank you "Hold up the bosx abd have the children at the front of the line say"Thank you"Pass the box to the children and have him or her say.Thank you .the second child in line must say please to the child now holdinging the box.
c.Repeat this with th eother children .Ask them to form two or three lines and see which line finest first.
3.Let's talk.
a.Hold up the puppet of Uncle Booky and ask the children ,"who's this" Elicit "Uncle Booky"
b.Have children open their books and point to Uncle Booky's speech bubble .As you point to the words,say:Please"and "Thank you"Have the children read the words and repeat them after the teacher.
c.have the children look at the five pictures and describe what they see in each one.
d.Hold up your copy of the book and have the puppet of Uncle Booky pointing to the first picture .Explain that children are going to look at the picture and decide if the word to describe the picture is Please or Thank you"
e.Repeat the procedure with other pictures.Elicit the words form children .
f.Put children into pairs.Before the practise the teacher can provide a model with a child.
4.Listen and act
a.Have children open their books and look at the head picture on the right.Show your copy of the page .Point to the hair on the picture and say"hair"Have the children point to their books .Repeat with the other parts of the head.
b.Tell them that they are going to play a game in which them must follow the teacher's instruction.say"Touch your nose"Point your nose and have children do the same .repeat with other parts.
c.Play the VCD and have the children toch the corresponding parts of their own.
5.sing the song
a.Explain to children that they are going to learn a song using Please and Thank you.
b,Have children open their books and look at the illustrations that acompany the song .Elicit the vocabulary words boy and girl by pointing to each one.
c.Read the words to the children ,Pointing to each word.and have the children follow .
d,Play the VCD and have the children follow.
e.Play the VCD again and have the children join in while they follow the commands .
6.Extension
a,Have children take turns to do the things for each other through mime and say"Please"and Thank you "They might :open the door \window pass a pencil .lend an eraser tie a shoelace ....
b.Mime an example for children to watch before having them work in pairs indicate to a child to pass you a book and say.:Please"When you have the book,you say:Thank you or Thanks.
