Unit25 going global -Reading and speaking教案
Teaching Aim:
The passage here focuses on reading and speaking skills. Considering its function in the whole unit, I design the following steps:
Stage 1 predicting
Look at the pictures and guess which Chinese city is described in the passage.
Students are asked to read several sentences chosen from the passage to ensure their guessing.
Stage 2 detailed reading
Read the passage carefully and answer the questions in exercise 2. Try to find out as much information about the questions as possible.
Stage 3 vocabulary building
To check the students’ understanding of the passage and build their vocabulary, teachers can use a short summary with some blanks.
Stage 4 speaking and discussing
Finish exercise 4 and discuss the questions in exercise 5. Students are asked to use some words from the passage.
Stage 5 writing a passage about a Chinese city.
Write a passage about a Chinese city. They should focus on the changes. And they can use some of their opinions in stage 4.
Stage 6 homework
Finish all the exercises about how the mobile phone changed the world on page 18 by using the reading skills from a changing city.
