The Spring festival is celebrated in January or February every year, which marks the end of the lunar year and the beginning of another new year. Last year, we rushed back to my hometown for a family reunion. Before we came back, the house was cleaned and kinds of food were bought. When we arrived home, we saw the doors and windows were decorated with paper-cuts and couplets(对联)and the lanterns were put up. A big reunion dinner was being prepared by my mother. After enjoying a delicious dinner, we stayed up and watched the Spring Festival Party. Since 1983, the Spring Festival Party has been broadcast on CCTV. Watching the programmes has become my family tradition. Outdoors the red lanterns were lit . At midnight when the bell was striken, fireworks were set off and the whole sky was lit up. Everybody was filled with happiness. Although the traditions of the festival are being changed now, this festival is still the most important celebration for all Chinese people.

The Spring Festival
The Spring Festival is the most important celebration for Chinese people, which lasts from the 23rd day of 12th lunar month to the 15th day of 1st lunar month, and the climax should be the New Year Eve and the first day of the first lunar month. People carry out a lot of activities to welcome the Spring Festival. All the families do Spring cleaning before the New Year. They go Spring Festival shopping to buy necessities for the New Year including food, new clothes and so on. People also put up Spring Festival couplets, paper-cuts or the character “fu” to create the atmosphere. On Spring Festival Eve, most families make dumplings and have reunion dinner together. People usually stay up late and set off fireworks on Spring Festival Eve. Most people watch the Spring Festival party broadcast on CCTV. By the first day of first lunar month, people put on festival clothes and begin to visit or welcome relatives and friends. Each child will get gift money or red packets. The lively atmosphere also moves to the streets. People go to temple fairs to eat traditional food and buy traditional things.
The Spring Festival then comes to an end after the Lantern Festival. Chinese people feel very excited during this traditiaonal festival. They consider it as a precious and pleasant time for family reunion.
