Unit4 Mocky’s birthday
The sixth period
Teaching aims:
Help the students do and master the “self-assessment”.
Difficult aims: Complete the sentences.
Preparation: CD, cards, tape recorder
Teaching procedure:
Review
Review the main story together with the children. Have the children open at pages 40 and 41 and read the story by themselves. Encourage the children to role play the story.
Play the game
In this game the children need to prepare a dice
Tell them they are going to play a game. In this game all the children start at the world Start! The winner is the first child to reach Finish! Each time a child throws the dice and lands on a square with an instruction, he or she must follow that instruction and move backward or forward to the appropriate square.
Put the children in groups of four. Tell them to put their counters on Start! And begin the game.
Self-assessment
Answer the questions
Have the children look at the sentences on top of page 49. Explain that they are puzzles of months. Tell them to read the sentences and work out the puzzles in groups.
Write the date
Explain to the children in the second activity they need to write out the dates for the holidays. Have them work in pairs and complete the task.
Reflection
Tell the children it is time for them to reflect on their learning in this Unit. Ask them what activity they like, what they don’t like, what are difficult for them, what are easy etc. Collect their suggestions and refer back to them when you prepare lessons for the next Unit.
Have the children work individually to finish the items on the reflection card.
Homework:
Listen to the tape, review the story.
Write the sentences of reflection on exercise books.
