Step 1.Organizing the teaching1.Greetings2.Sing an English song.Step 2. Revision:1.Play “What day is today ” to review days of the week,months of the year,and ordinal numbers.2.Play “Spell It” to review “gift”.Ask for a volunteer to draw a gift on the BB after the class has successfully spelled the word.Step 3.Key concepts: Christmas Christmas tree holiday lights1.Introduce: a.Explain that in this unit LiMing learns about Christmas .Discuss what the Ss already know about this western holiday. Who is Santa What is a Christmas tree Do people give gift at Christmas b.Use a real light bulb to demonstrate “lights”.c.Demonstrate “Christmas tree” with the poster. Explain that most people have a Christmas tree in their homes at Christmas and that they decorate it. d.Demonstrate and explain “holiday”in English.Ask the Ss to name holidays in China.2.Student book:a.Note other vocabulary this lesson intriduces:special, invite, bring and give. b.Note the word “toy”. The Ss may already know what this word means.c.Play the audiotape as the Ss follow in their books. 3.Practice: Play the game “Go fish” to practice the key vocabulary.
