PROCEDURES:
Practice 1
Getting ready
Point to the pictures.
T: what subjects are these (Point to the music and P.E. picture under number 1.) [Ss: music and P.E.]
T: read the sentence. [Ss: I like music and P.E.]
Ask various Ss to identify one or two pictures from each number and read the sentences.
Using the book
T: ok, class. Let’s listen to the tape.
Play the tape for number 1, then pause.
T: what subjects does the boy like Is it music and art [Ss: no, he likes music and P.E.]
While Ss and responding, make a circle motion around the sentence I like music and P.E.
T: circle the answer.
Continue with the rest.

Practice2
Getting ready
Hold up the stack of picture cards 25-31, with one card showing. Point to one student.
T: do you like (science) [s1: yes, I do./no, I don’t]
Pass the cards to s1. s1 then chooses a new card and asks s2 do you like (math)
S2 answers the question, then takes the cards, selects a new card and asks a question of a third student.
Using the book
T: Now, read the questions and answer.
Have Ss read the questions together.
Ask individual Ss to answer.
Put Ss into small groups to ask and answer the questions.

Song
Getting ready
Point to the pictures.
T: I like …. (Point to the science book.) [Ss: I like science.]
Continue with the other pictures.
Have Ss read the lyrics together.
Using the book
T: let’s sign the song! Let’s listen to the tape first.
Play the tape and point to each word as it is sung.
Hand out the picture cards to various Ss.
Sign the song as a whole group again. When the Ss with picture cards hear words, they hold up their cards.

Activity 1
Getting ready
Line up the picture cards on the board in the same order as on the page.
T: who likes (science) (model raising your hand.)
As Ss raise their hands, count the number of ands and write the number under the picture card.
Do the same with all the subjects.
Using the book
Have Ss read out the subjects across the top of the grid.
Draw a survey grid on the board around the picture cards to match the one in the book.
Write s1’s name on the left side of the grid.
T: (s1’s name), do you like music Do you like math Etc.
As s1 angers yes, I do./no, I don’t mark the boxes with checkmarks for yes and xs for no.
T: ok, class. In your books, answer the questions yourself and them ask four other students.
Put Ss in groups of five to complete the survey.
