Analysis of the textbook The topic of this module is “Festivals”. This lesson is focus on reading and writing. Pupils will learn how to write mind-map and organize the meterials before writing.
Analysis of pupils The pupils have learned English for more than five years, and from Grade Four they started to write diaries, letters or short articles according to the topics of the textbook;The pupils have learned the song ”Months” in Grade Five and the chant ”New Year” in Grade Six;3. The pupils have learned the sentences describing Christmas and Spring Festivals in Module Six;
Teaching Aims “Festivals” is the study content of successful English I created for pupils in Grade Six. First, I’ll guide the pupils to have a brain-storming to go over the history and customs of festivals in different months. Then, let children read some passages of “Tomato Festival” and “Diwali”. After that, ask children to have group discussion and introduce by using the mind-map. At last, let pupils create new festivals and write short articles. 1. About knowledge: To review the dates of many festivals; To learn some special festivals in English;2. About ability: To learn how to talk about the festivals by using the mind-map; To provide practice in reading; and how to write a article about the festivals;To encourage the writing skill and imagination;3. About attitude: To learn the western customs and culture;To be active at study and be confident. Be willing to take part in the activities. Cooperate in a group and learn from their partners.
