Practice 1
Getting ready
Point to the first three pictures.
T: what’s this (point to the chair.)[Ss: it’s a chair.]
T: what are these (point to the glasses.)[Ss: they’re glasses.]
T: where are the glasses (point to the top picture.)[Ss: they’re under the chair.]
Do the same for other two pictures.
Using the book
T: let’s listen to the tape.
Play the tape for number 1, then pause.
T: which picture and sentence is it
Give Ss time to circle the corresponding sentence.
Continue with remaining three numbers.

Practice 2
Getting ready
Have Ss take out notebooks, pencils and erasers. Draw a question mark on the board.
T: put your notebook, pencils, erasers and books around your desk.
Demonstrate by arranging items behind, in front of and next to your desk.
T: (s1’s name ),where’s your notebook [s1: it’s (under)the desk.](s1’s name),ask another student a question. (point to the question mark.)[s1:(s2’s name),where is your (eraser) ]
Continue with one or two more Ss.
Using the book
T: read and answer the questions.
Have the class read the questions.
Ask individual Ss to answer.
Put Ss into small groups to practice asking and answering the questions.

Getting ready
Point to the pictures on the page.
T: what is tony asking (point to the left picture.)[s1: where’s my white sock ]
T: where’s tony’s white sock (point to the right picture.)[s2: it’s (behind)the door.]
Using the book
T: now let’s learn a song. List first.
Play the tape.
T: let’s sing along .
Play the tape and lead lead Ss in singing the song.
Divide class into two groups. One group sings the questions and the other group sings the answers. Then switch .

Continue and encourage Ss to ask you questions about these pictures.

Put Ss into small groups of two or three.
Have Ss point and ask one another questions about the items and their positions.
Model questions, e.g. where’s the ruler
Walk around the classroom and check Ss’ accuracy.
