the fourth period
TEACHING AIMS: students can ask about and describing the location of things
TEACHING KEY: to hlep students to comprehend Conversation and vocabuary,target,sounds
TEACHING AIDS: pictures ,tape and some transparencies
TEACHING PERIOD: the fourth period
PROCEDURES:
Getting ready
Have Ss look at the picture. Point to one of the objects in the picture, e.g. the puzze.
T: (choose one student .)(S1’s name), where’s the puzze [S1: the puzze is (in front of the sofa.)]
T: (s2’s name), ask (s3’s name) a question.[s2(s3’s name), ask (s3’s name) a question.[s2: (s3’s name), where ate the (toy cars) ]
Continue this way with other objects and other Ss.
If time permits, continue the activity with rea objects in the cassroom.
Using the book
T: ook at the works. What to you see in number 1 [Ss: a soccer ba.] where is the soccerba in the picture [Ss: the soccer ba is next to the bookcase.]
Hod up the book and with your finger, trace the line from the soccer ba in the first coumn to next to in the second coumn and then to the picture of the bookcase in the third coumn .
T: now finish the work in pairs.
Put Ss in pairs, then circuate around the cassroom and check how Ss are doing
some Ss are having a difficut time , pair them with more advanced Ss for hep.
Have Ss check each other’s work.

Sounds and words
1 .getting ready
T: let’s practice the sound /f/. look at my mouth and repeat.
T: /f/.[Ss: /f/.]
If necessary. have Ss pace their fingers on their throats to distinguish /f/ and /v/. (/v/-Ss fee the vibration of the voca cords; /f/-Ss don’t fee it.)
Using the book
Have Ss ook at the words on the page.
Make the sound /f/, pointing to the speing patterns (f, ph).
T: let’s isten to the tape.
Pay the tape and have Ss point to each word.
T: let’s isten again and this time, repeat.
Have Ss repeat after the tape.
After enough practice, point to the pictures randomy and have Ss say the word.
2 getting ready
have Ss ook at the pictures.
Point to the pictures and ask Ss questions.
T: Is this a photo or a teephone/[Ss: a teephone.]
T: how about this one Is this a fax or a fan [Ss: a fax.]
Using the book
T: let’s isten to the chant.
Pay the tape once.
T: now listen and point to the correct pictures.
Pay the tape again and have Ss to point to the pictures.
T: ok. let’s chant together.
Pay the tape and have Ss chant aong.
