Presentation Teach: I need …T: (show a big picture) One day, May and his father go to shop. What do they say Look. Father says: I need a new belt.Say the word ‘need’ and tell the pupils the Chinese meaning.Say the sentence ‘I need a new belt.’ Ask some boys to say like Father.T: Please look at May and guess. What does May need T: Listen. Now I’m May. I need a new dress.Try to say sentences.Look at the clothes. If you are Father or May, what do you need E.g. I need a tie. I need socks. …To the supermarket.T: After May and Father buy the clothes, they go to the supermarket. This time, what will they do Let’s have a look.(Teacher acts like a shop-assistant, encourages two pupils to act the roles. Make a short dialogue.)--- What can I do for you --- I need some biscuits. --- I need some sweets. --- Here you are. --- How much --- Seventeen yuan.--- Thank you.

You’re girls.Say together.T: Are you girls (No) Yes, you’re boys.Say together.Listen and act. E.g. Teacher says: ‘boys’. Boys stand up and say: We’re boys.Ask two boys and two girls to come to the front. Listen and do. E.g. T: ‘Boys, take off your scarfs.’ Pupils do action.Have a match. When pupils familiar with the commands, all the boys are in one team and all the girls are in another team. Let’s see which team will win.
Consolidation Play the cassette and read after it. Act the game. Teacher orders, pupils act.Change ‘scarfs’ to ‘hats’ or other things. Repeat the game.Several pupils are in a group. Play the game.
