六、阅读理解(共15小题;共30分)
A
When
other
nine-year-old
kids
were
playing
games,
she
was
working
at
a
petrol
station.
When
other
teens
were
studying
or
going
out,
she
struggled
to
find
a
place
to
sleep
on
the
street.
But
she
overcame
these
terrible
setbacks
to
win
a
highly
competitive
scholarship
and
gain
entry
to
Harvard
University.
And
her
amazing
story
has
inspired
a
movie,
“Homeless
to
Harvard:The
Liz
Murray
Story”,
shown
in
late
April.
Liz
Murray,
a
22-year-old
American
girl,
has
been
writing
a
real-life
story
of
willpower
and
determination.
Liz
grew
up
in
the
shadow
of
two
drug-addicted
parents.
There
was
never
enough
food
or
warm
clothes
in
the
house.
Liz
was
the
only
member
of
the
family
who
had
a
job.
Her
mother
had
AIDS
and
died
when
Liz
was
just
15
years
old.
The
effect
of
that
loss
became
a
turning
point
in
her
life.
Connecting
the
environment
in
which
she
had
grown
up
with
how
her
mother
had
died,
she
decided
to
do
something
about
it.
Liz
went
back
to
school.
She
threw
herself
into
her
studies,
never
telling
her
teachers
that
she
was
homeless.
At
night,
she
lived
on
the
streets.
“What
drove
me
to
live
on
had
something
to
do
with
understanding,
My
understanding
was
that
there
was
a
whole
other
way
of
being.
I
had
only
experienced
a
small
part
of
society,”
she
wrote
in
her
book
Breaking
Night.
She
admitted
that
she
used
envy
to
drive
herself
on.
She
used
the
benefits
that
come
easily
to
others,
such
as
a
safe
living
environment,
to
encourage
herself
that
"next
to
nothing
could
hold
me
down".
She
finished
high
school
in
just
two
years
and
won
a
full
scholarship
to
study
at
Harvard
University.
But
Liz
decided
to
leave
her
top
university
a
couple
of
months
earlier
this
year
in
order
to
take
care
of
her
father,
who
has
also
developed
AIDS.
"I
love
my
parents
so
much.
They
are
drug
addicts.
But
I
never
forget
that
they
love
me
all
the
time."
Liz
wants
moviegoers
to
come
away
with
the
idea
that
changing
your
life
is
"as
simple
as
making
a
decision".

All
around
the
world,
millions
of
kids
and
adults
celebrate
World
No
Tobacco
Day
on
May
31.
In
1988,
a
committee
of
the
World
Health
Organization(WHO)
created
the
event.
World
No
Tobacco
Day
is
important
in
educating
kids
and
adults.
With
increased
awareness(意识)
about
the
dangers
of
smoking,
more
and
more
kids
are
choosing
the
healthy
way
to
lead
smoke-free
lives.
In
the
late
1990s,
four
large
cigarette
companies
agreed
to
pay
46
states
money
for
state
health
costs
connected
with
smoking.
The
states
use
a
part
of
this
money
to
make
anti-smoking
programs,
including
anti-smoking
awareness
for
young
people.
From
1997
to
2013,
the
smoking
rate
for
kids
ages
12-17
dropped
steadily.
Recently,
however,
kid-smoking
rates
have
remained
steady.
This
may
be
because
of
the
fact
that
cigarette
companies
spend
big
money
trying
to
attract
kids.
The
tobacco
industry
has
one
goal
in
mind,
which
is
to
sell
tobacco
products
and
get
people
into
the
habit
of
smoking
this
product.
The
non-profit
group
is
trying
to
promote(促进)
smoke-free
air.
April
Schweitzer
is
the
associate
director
of
youth
advocacy
for
the
Campaign
for
Tobacco
Free
Kids.
"One
of
the
best
ways
to
prevent
smoking
is
educating
what's
in
tobacco
and
how
the
tobacco
companies
target(以……为目标)
kids,"
she
says.
"We
find
kids
do
not
want
to
be
so.
Kids
are
learning
how
to
fight
the
cigarette
companies'
hard
sell."
Celebrating
World
No
Tobacco
Day
is
one
way
in
which
kids
can
join
the
fight
for
a
smoke-free
world.
Kids
can
do
something
as
simple
as
going
to
a
park
with
some
friends
and
setting
up
a
table
with
their
information
about
World
No
Tobacco
Day.
75.

do
more
and
more
kids
choose
not
to
smoke

allowed
by
the
WHO.
B.
Because
buying
cigarettes
costs
a
lot
of
money.

Because
World
No
Tobacco
Day
has
been
created.
D.
Because
they
begin
to
realize
the
danger
of
smoking.

No
Tobacco
Day,

cigarette
companies'
hard
sell
C.
take
part
in
the
fight
for

Day
created

C
Coffee
is
one
of
the
world's
most
widely-enjoyed
drinks.
Now,
a
new
research
suggests
that
if
you
drink
enough
coffee,
it
might
help
you
avoid
certain
kinds
of
cancer.
Dr.
Mia
Hashibe
of
the
University
of
Utah
School
of
Medicine
was
interested
in
the
connection
between
coffee
drinking
and
certain
cancers
of
the
head
and
neck.
Researchers
have
looked
into
this
before,
but
without
reaching
any
firm
conclusions.
She
said,
"So
this
finding
from
our
new
study
was
quite
a
surprise.
We
didn't
really
have
any
expectation
of
which
direction
it
could
go
into."
To
sort
out
the
confusion,
Hashibe
and
her
assistants
used
statistical(统计学的)
techniques
to,
in
effect,
make
one
big
study
out
of
the
earlier
smaller
studies.
She
explained,
"Thanks
to
the
earlier
studies,
we
have
a
lot
more
power
than
earlier
studies
that
looked
at
this.
And
we
included
4,000
cancer
patients
who
have
cancer
of
the
mouth
and
throat.
And
then
9,000
controls,
people
who
do
not
have
cancer."
Those
studies
in
Europe
and
the
United
States
found
that
people
who
drank
a
lot
of
coffee
were
less
likely
to
develop
cancers
of
the
mouth
and
throat.
"We
saw
4
cups
of
coffee
per
day,"
Hashibe
said,
"this
was
the
40
percent
decrease
in
risk.
We
did
not
see
the
same
effect
for
drinking
three
cups
or
less
per
day."
Mia
Hashibe
said
there
was
a
weak
connection
between
cancer
risk
and
drinking
coffee
without
caffeine.
And
she
and
her
assistants
found
no
proof
that
drinking
tea
provided
the
same
protection
as
drinking
coffee.
Their
research
is
published
in
the
journal
Cancer
Epidemiology,
Biomarkers
&
Prevention.
Hashibe
says
it
is
not
clear
how
coffee
might
protect
drinkers
from
certain
cancers.
"There
are
a
few
chemicals
that
are
known
to
be
antioxidants(抗氧化物)
in
coffee.
So
we
are
thinking
perhaps
they
are
playing
some
sort
of
protective
role
against
several
cancers."

The
latest
United
Nations
report
on
the
AIDS
spread
paints
a
sad
picture.
It
concludes
that
the
regions
of
the
world
most
affected
by
AIDS
will
experience
rapid
increases
in
deaths
among
young
adults.
This
will
have
serious
social
and
economic
results.
So
the
United
Nations
urge
developed
countries
and
international
organizations
to
work
together
to
come
up
with
a
solution.
The
spread
of
AIDS
and
the
virus
that
causes
it,
HIV,
is
particularly
destructive
in
Africa.
It
is
estimated
that
in
sub-Saharan
Africa,
over
twenty-four
million
adults
and
children
are
now
living
with
HIV.
In
sixteen
sub-Saharan
countries,
according
to
the
UN,
at
least
ten
percent
of
the
people
between
the
age
of
fifteen
and
forty-nine
are
HIV
positive.
In
South
Africa
and
Zimbabwe,
half
the
people
between
those
ages
may
die
of
AIDS.
In
Botswana,
about
one
in
three
adults
is
infected,
and
some
two-thirds
of
the
country's
fifteen-year-old
boys
may
die
before
they
grow
up.
As
a
result,
agriculture,
business,
education,
and
health
care
are
already
suffering
serious
loss
worldwide.
The
United
States
is
spending
millions
of
dollars
to
cover
it.
Funding
is
being
used
for
prevention
campaigns
and
to
make
AIDS
treatment
more
affordable.
Money
is
also
being
used
to
reduce
mother-to-child
transmission
rates;
support
home
and
community
based
care,
and
provide
care
for
children
orphaned(成为孤儿)
by
AIDS.
The
Peace
Corps
will
soon
make
an
all
out
effort
to
bring
AIDS
education
to
the
countries
most
at
risk.
It
is
important
that
the
governments
and
citizens
of
those
nations
most
affected
by
AIDS
do
their
part
to
fight
against
it.
Some,
like
Senegal
and
Uganda,
have
already
begun
programs
for
disease
prevention.
These
countries
are
experiencing
falling
or
stable
HIV
rates
and
less
suffering.
But
for
other
nations,
much
remains
to
be
done.

七、短文7选5(5选5等)(共5小题;共10分)
Healthy
Habits
for
Living
Longer
Many
of
us
are
set
in
our
daily
habits.
We
eat
the
same
meal,
wear
the
same
clothes,
take
the
same
route
to
work
and
work
the
same
old
job.
But
what
we
sometimes
fail
to
recognize
is
the
huge
influence
that
our
daily
habits
can
have
on
our
health.
It
is
very
important
for
us
to
keep
our
daily
habits
healthy.
86.

Take
some
exercise
every
day.
Daily
exercise
does
improve
our
health.
In
fact,
studies
show
that
daily
exercise
can
add
three
years
to
our
life.
Opportunity
for
exercise
is
everywhere—just
be
creative.
Whenever
we
can,
walk
to
work.
87.

It's
really
that
simple.
Eat
a
healthy
breakfast.
Researchers
have
found
that
those
who
eat
an
early
morning
meal
are
less
likely
to
be
too
fat
and
get
diseases
compared
with
those
who
don't.
88.

All
in
all,
eating
breakfast
is
a
great
and
healthy
way
to
start
our
day.
Have
enough
sleep.
89.

Failing
to
get
at
least
seven
hours
of
sleep
appears
to
increase
the
risk
of
major
illnesses
including
cancer,
heart
disease,
diabetes
and
many
more.
Get
chances
to
communicate(交流).
90.

Any
social
communication
can
positively
affect
our
health
because
we
can
have
more
time
and
chances
to
communicate
with
others.
All
of
these
can
add
years
to
our
lives.
A.
Not
enough
quality
sleep
can
shorten
our
life.
B.
Exercise
also
helps
us
keep
away
from
illnesses.
C.
If
we
live
or
work
in
a
tall
building,
just
take
the
stairs.
D.
Breakfast-eaters
also
report
feeling
better.
E.
There's
an
old
saying
that
says
a
good
friend
is
cheaper
than
treatment.
F.
Finding
time
for
structured
exercise
can
be
pretty
much
impossible
for
many
people.
G.
By
making
just
a
few
small
changes
and
keeping
them,
we
can
add
a
few
years
to
our
life.

To
build
a
green
school,
I'd
like
to
give
a
few
suggestions
as
follow:
Littering
should
not
be
allowed
at
school
so
rubbish
takes
time
to
break
down.
We
need
to
plant
more
trees
on
campus
since
they
will
not
only
add
beauty
to
our
school
but
also
reduces
the
content

Recycling
is
considered

key
to
protect
the
environment
so
that
we
can
encourage
our
students
recycle
bottles,
plastics
bags,
batteries
and
waste
newspapers.
Furthermore,
it
is
less
costly
to
buy
recycling
materials.
Someone
needs
to
make
an
effort
to
save
energy
at
school.

we
should
turn
out
off
electricity
equipment
when
it

I
believed

united
efforts
can
make
our
school
the
real

school.
