would rather 也可跟从句，且从句常用一般过去时。如：

我宁愿你现在就知道，而不是后来。prefer to do相当于rather than do，意为“比较喜欢……而不喜欢……”。如：

prefer … to … 意为“喜欢……甚于……，宁要……而不要……”。如：
He prefers skiing to skating.
