五、阅读理解
A
George
Gershwin,born
in
1898,was
one
of
America’s
greatest
composers.He
published
his
first
song
when
he
was
eighteen
years
old.During
the
next
twenty
years
he
wrote
more
than
five
hundred
songs.
Many
of
Gershwin’s
songs
were
first
written
for
musical
plays
performed
in
theatres
in
New
York
City.These
plays
were
a
popular
form
of
entertainment
in
the
1920s
and
1930s.Many
of
his
songs
have
remained
popular
up
to
now.Over
the
years
they
have
been
sung
and
played
in
every
possible
way—from
jazz
to
country.
In
the
1920s
there
was
a
debate
in
the
United
States
about
jazz
music.Could
jazz,some
people
asked,be
considered
serious
music In
1924
jazz
musician
and
orchestra
leader
Paul
Whiteman
decided
to
organise
a
special
concert
to
show
that
jazz
was
serious
music.Gershwin
agreed
to
compose
something
for
the
concert
before
he
realised
he
had
just
a
few
weeks
to
do
it.And
in
that
short
time,he
composed
a
piece
for
piano
and
orchestra
which
he
called
RhapsodyinBlue.Gershwin
himself
played
the
piano
at
the
concert.The
audience
were
thrilled
when
they
heard
his
music.It
made
him
world-famous
and
showed
that
jazz
music
could
be
both
serious
and
popular.
In
1928,Gershwin
went
to
Paris.He
applied
to
study
composition(作曲)with
the
well-known
musician
Nadia
Boulanger,but
she
rejected
him.She
was
afraid
that
classical
study
would
ruin
his
jazz-influenced
style.While
there,Gershwin
wrote
AnAmericaninParis.When
it
was
first
performed,critics(评论家)were
divided
over
the
music.Some
called
it
happy
and
full
of
life,and
to
others
it
was
silly
and
boring.But
it
quickly
became
popular
in
Europe
and
the
United
States.It
still
remains
one
of
his
most
famous
works.
George
Gershwin
died
in
1937,just
days
after
doctors
learned
he
had
brain
cancer.He
was
only
thirty-nine
years
old.Newspapers
all
over
the
world
reported
his
death
on
their
front
pages.People
mourned
the
loss
of
the
man
and
all
the
music
he
might
have
still
written.

答案:B
解析:推理判断题。根据第三段的“Gershwinhimselfplayedthepianoattheconcert.Theaudiencewerethrilledwhentheyheardhismusic.Itmadehimworld-famousandshowedthatjazzmusiccouldbebothseriousandpopular.”可知,这个音乐会充分证明爵士音乐流行的同时,也可以庄重、严肃。

B.HestudiedwithNadiaBoulanger.
C.HearguedwithFrenchcritics.

答案:A
解析:细节理解题。从第四段的第二句可知B项不正确;从第四段的“Whenitwasfirstperformed,critics(评论家)weredividedoverthemusic.”可知,不是格什温与评论家争辩,故C项不正确;没有提到他音乐风格的改变,故D项不正确;从第四段的最后一句“Itstillremainsoneofhismostfamousworks.”可知A项是正确的。
4.Whatdowelearnfromthelastparagraph

are
important.Whether

they’re

you
can
try.Make

Of
course,this
exercise
is
entirely
different
from
making
friends
only
for

of
oneself.We

should
try
to
help

spend
time
with
those

are

七、七选五
(2015·黑龙江鹤岗一中高一上期末)
1 However,nobody
asked
if
there
was
a
common
number
that
thousands
of
people
loved
enough,to
call
it
their
favorite.But
now,thanks
to
London-based
author
Alex
Bellos,it
appears
that
such
a
number
does
exist
and
it
is
number
seven!
Bellos
who
has
written
a
lot
of
books
about
mathematics
and
spent
a
large
amount
of
time
talking
about
the
subject
at
schools,universities,and
festivals,is
always
asked
about
his
favorite
number. 2 But
he
soon
realized
that
it
was
because
many
people
felt
an
emotional
attachment
to
numbers.
Curious
to
see
if
that
was
indeed
the
case.Bellos
decided
to
set
up
an
online
survey
and
ask
the
people
all
over
the
world
to
pick
their
favorite
number. 3 Here
is
what
he
found
out:Though
almost
every
number
was
selected,it
was
seven
that
appeared
to
be
the
most
popular—4,000
or
10%
of
the
people
that
took
the
survey,picked
it
as
their
favorite
number.
4 There
is
the
cultural
meaning
as
evidenced
by
the
seven
ancient
wonders
of
the
world,seven
days
in
a
week,and
last
but
not
least
seven
circles
of
the
universe.
If
that
is
not
convincing
enough,Bellos
also
points
out
the
importance
of
the
number
in
another
aspect.Seven
is
the
only
number
between
one
and
ten
that
can’t
be
multiplied
or
divided
by
any
other
number
within
that
group.For
example,multiply
one,two,three,four,and
five
by
two
and
the
answer
can
be
found
within
the
group. 5 Nine
can
be
divided
by
three.Seven
is
the
only
number
that
stands
untouchable!
A.At
first,the
question
annoyed
him.
B.Six,eight
and
ten
can
be
divided
by
two.
C.People
like
it
because
of
some
religious
reasons.
D.Many
people
don’t
like
number
thirteen
and
try
to
avoid
it.
E.To
his
surprise,about
44,000
people
took
the
online
survey.
F.Some
people
think
their
lucky
number
can
bring
good
luck
to
them.
G.Bellos
believes
that
seven
is
the
choice
for
many
people
for
a
number
of
reasons.
