Ⅱ.阅读理解
A
The
ability
to
make
small
talk
is
highly
valued.
In
fact,
many
English
students
are
more
interested
in
making
effective
small
talk
than
knowing
correct
grammar
structures—and
rightly
so!
Small
talk
gets
friendships
started
and
breaks
the
ice
before
important
business
meetings
and
other
events.
However,
making
small
talk
is
difficult
not
only
for
English
learners,
but
also
for
many
native
speakers
of
English.
Small
talk
can
be
especially
difficult
for
some
learners
because
making
small
talk
means
talking
about
almost
anything—and
that
means
having
a
wide
vocabulary
that
can
cover
most
topics.
Most
English
learners
have
an
excellent
vocabulary
in
specific
areas,
but
may
have
difficulty
discussing
topics
they
are
unfamiliar
with
because
of
a
lack
of
appropriate
vocabulary.
This
lack
of
vocabulary
leads
to
some
students
“blocking”.
They
slow
down
or
stop
speaking
completely
because
of
a
lack
of
self-confidence.
1.The
first
paragraph
is
to
________.
A.
show
people
the
importance
of
small
talk
B.
say
knowledge
is
not
important
C.
show
that
ice
can
not
be
broken
without
small
talk
D.
start
friendships
and
break
the
ice
答案与解析:B 细节理解题。文章第二、三段都列举了各种很需要聊天的场合,B项符合其中所列举的一个场合。
2.Which
of
the
following
statements
is
true
according
to
the
passage
A.
Small
talk
is
important
because
making
small
talk
is
no
easy
job.
B.
Many
English
learners
can
have
excellent
small
talk.
C.
Most
native
speakers
of
English
find
it
too
difficult
to
conduct
small
talk.
D.
A
lack
of
appropriate
vocabulary
might
make
small
talk
a
failure.
答案与解析:A 推理判断题。例子的作用并不只是给出一个场合(C项)、几种方法(B项),也不是作为练习出现(D项),举例是为中心服务,也就是为了说明什么样的谈话叫聊天。
3.Many
native
speakers
of
English
feel
it
difficult
to
make
small
talk
because
________.
A.
they
are
not
familiar
with
some
specific
area
or
topic
B.
they
don't
have
self-confidence
before
English
learners
C.
their
vocabulary
is
not
for
small
talk
but
for
a
specific
area
D.
they
are
only
familiar
with
some
specific
area
or
topic
答案与解析:D 句意理解题。句子后面括号中的内容就是答案。四个选项中,D项的陈述与之最接近。
4.Many
English
students
are
more
interested
in
effective
small
talk
than
grammar
structures
because
________.
A.
small
talk
is
more
difficult
than
grammar
structures
B.
it
is
helpful
for
their
future
work
C.
they
have
to
make
friends
D.
they
need
it
to
kill
the
time
before
conferences
答案与解析:D 推理判断题。本文包括4个内容:聊天的方法、聊天的时间、聊天的内容和一个例子。综合起来就是说明聊天很重要。
B
Do
you
talk
to
people
just
to
pass
the
time
If
we
are
being
polite
with
people,
there
are
only
a
few
things
we
can
choose
to
say.
However,
conversations
which
pass
the
time
can
be
a
little
bit
more
varied
(各式各样的).
We
have
“pass
time”
conversations
at
parties
or
before
meetings
or
when
we
are
delayed
in
a
train.
Someone
will
choose
a
subject
and
comment
on
it
in
a
general
kind
of
way.
And
then
someone
else
will
add
a
comment.
In
a
“pass
time”
conversation
people
don't
show
their
individuality
(个性)very
much.
Usually
people
agree
with
each
other
or
only
disagree
in
unimportant
ways.
And
they
don't
try
to
start
a
serious
discussion
or
argument
which
they
care
about.
“Pass
time”
conversations
are
very
important
if
you
are
traveling
and
visiting
people's
homes.
“Pass
time”
conversations
help
you
to
get
to
know
the
other
person
a
little
bit.
Then
you
can
decide
whether
you
want
to
get
to
know
them
better
and
to
share
more
useful
and
interesting
conversations.
Here
is
a
typical
British
“pass
time”
conversation.
You
can
practise
it!
The
other
person:
It
really
has
been
terrible
weather
in
the
last
few
days,
hasn't
it
You:
Absolutely
terrible!
We
haven't
really
had
a
summer
at
all!/I
think
it's
all
right
for
the
gardens./It's
just
the
time
of
year,
I
think./(And
for
the
humorist)
It's
all
right
for
ducks!
If
you
want
to
disagree,
do
so
gently
and
in
such
a
way
that
you
don't
upset
them!
You:
To
tell
you
the
truth,
I'm
quite
happy
about
the
rain!
I've_just_planted_some_seeds_in_the_garden_and_it's_just_what_they_need.
(If
you
just
made
the
statement,
“I'm
quite
happy
about
the
rain!”
and
gave
no
explanation,
particularly
if
you
didn't
smile,
the
other
person
would
be
angry!)
People
sometimes
talk
about
serious
subjects
in
“pass
time”
conversations.
And
yet
they
don't
really
say
anything
which
might
be
too
original
or
disturbing.
5.When
________,
it
is
important
to
have
a
“pass
time”
conversation.
A.
you
have
nothing
to
do
B.
you
meet
some
strangers
on
your
trip
C.
you
are
waiting
for
your
friend
D.
you
want
to
show
you
are
different
from
others
答案与解析:A 归纳概括题。由文章第一段第一句话可知,本段主要讲聊天的重要性,所以选A。
6.What
is
the
example
used
for
A.
It
shows
what
is
a
“pass
time”
talk.
B.
It
tells
us
different
ways
to
start
a
conversation.
C.
It
gives
a
situation
in
which
you
start
a
talk.
D.
It
provides
an
exercise
to
practise.
答案与解析:D 推理判断题。从文章最后一段可知答案。A项本身逻辑错误。B、C两项与文章意思相反。故排除,所以选D。
7.The
example
“I've
just
planted
some
seeds
in
the
garden
and
it's
just
what
they
need.”
is
intended
to
________.
A.
make
the
other
smile
B.
explain
your
disagreement
C.
express
your
disagreement
D.
avoid
making
the
other
angry
答案与解析:A 细节理解题。从文章第二段第三句话可知,原因是他们对某个领域或话题不熟悉,所以选A。
8.The
writer
wants
to
tell
us
that
________.
A.
people
can't
talk
about
serious
subjects
in
“pass
time”
conversations
B.
in
different
situations
you
should
talk
about
different
things
C.
to
different
people
you
should
talk
about
different
subjects
D.
“pass
time”
talk
is
very
important
答案与解析:B 细节理解题。从文章第一段列举的事实可知答案。
Ⅲ.七选五阅读
No
fight
can
end,
and
no
friendship
can
move
on,
until
everyone
says
these
little
words:
I'm
sorry.
Sometimes,
though,
they
can
be
difficult
to
say.
__1__
It's
not
about
winning.
Friendships
aren't
like
the
Super
Bowl,
and
there
should
never
be
a
winner
and
a
loser.
When
you
start
fighting
with
a
friend,
it
may
feel
important
that
you
“win”
the
fight
by
proving
you're
right
and
he
is
wrong,
or
by
making
him
be
the
first
to
apologise.
In
fact,
there's
no
winner.
__2__
You
may
have
heard
the
expression
“His
pride
stood
in
the
way.”
It
is
usually
used
to
describe
a
person
who
is
so
determined
to
be
“right”
that
he
lets
an
opportunity
for
happiness
pass
him
by
forever.
__3__
Remember:
As
time
goes
on,
we
usually
forget
who
was
right
and
who
was
wrong
in
a
disagreement,
and
only
remember
the
sadness
of
losing
a
friend.
Take
the
first
step.
Are
you
sick
of
fighting
Do
you
think
this
fight
is
just
not
important
enough
to
ruin
your
friendship
__4__
You
don't
have
to
take
full
responsibility
for
starting
the
fight,
or
even
say
that
your
feelings
were
wrong.
But
you
should
find
something
you
did
or
said
that's
worth
apologizing
for.
Maybe
you're
sorry
that
you
let
the
fight
go
for
so
long,
or
that
you
overreacted
(反应过度)to
something
your
friend
did.
If
you
say
you
are
sorry,
it's
like
an
invitation
for
your
friend
to
do
the
same.
__5__
A.
Then
try
to
be
the
first
to
apologise.
B.
Stop
thinking
about
your
pride.
C.
It's
about
taking
some
responsibility
for
the
argument.
D.
Don't
let
this
happen
to
a
friendship
you
care
about.
E.
Here
are
some
things
to
keep
in
mind.
F.
There
are
some
special
cases
when
you
shouldn't
be
the
one
to
apologise
first.
G.
Once
you've
both
said
it,
you'll
both
feel
a
million
times
better.
答案:1.E 2.B 3.D 4.A 5.G
