Ⅰ. Warming-up:
Play a game-Hot Potatoes.
Students pass the hot potato with the music. When the music stops, the student peel the outside paper, then read and answer the question.
Ⅱ.Lead in:
T: We often ask the way, but how to ask properly?
Watch a short video. Then analyze together:
The boy’s question “Where are the restrooms?” is impolite, but the girl’s question “Excuse me, could you please tell me where the restrooms are? ” is the right way. So we should ask the way politely.
Ⅲ. Presentation:
T: Today our class will have a new student, Jim. He doesn’t know here at all. He can’t find the way. Do you know any public places?
1. Learn some new words and phrases.
(学习“厕所”表达时,告诉学生restroom, washroom, bathroom是厕所的委婉表达。中国人常用toilet和washroom; 西方人常用resroom和bathroom)
Read after the teacher and then memorize them for one minute.
Finally, have a competition-Memory Challenge(幸运大转盘).
2. Show a map: Learn how to ask the way politely. Ask some students to read the dialogue and then read it together.

课后反思
我在对教材进行了分析后,制定了本课的教学目标,在此基础上对教材进行了整合。依照任务型教学的宗旨,在课堂教学过程中,根据学生实际接受能力和已有知识水平,设计了能让学生下手的教学活动。在教学设计过程中力求采用层层递进的方法,降低教学难度,使学生掌握使用相关句型并熟练应用。
本节课的中心是如何有礼貌地问路,内容很贴近生活但用英语表达有一定的难度。语言的学习离不开真实的语境。所以本节课我以“帮助Jim找路”为主线,学生熟知的地点为背景贯穿整堂课,学生的兴趣很浓厚。
调动学生的参与热情还需要竞争机制。通过Memory Challenge和Knowledge Challenge,比拼中检测学生的掌握程度。
当然,本堂课也有不足之处。只提问举手回答的学生,覆盖面不够大,可以有些任务指定某个层次学生回答。此外,小组活动环节,缺乏教师指导,很多学生无法流利描述路线,影响了小组合作的效果。在教学中没有最好只有更好。出现不足之处,需要在实践中不断改进。
