人教版八年级下册共有10个单元和书后的补充材料以及语音和语法知识。每个单元都有一个话题,融合交际功能和语言结构。每个单元都列出了明确的语言目标,主要的功能项目与语法结构和需要掌握的基本词汇,而且所有知识点能服务于每单元的话题与活动。每个单元分为A、B两部分。A部分是基本的语言内容,B部分是知识的扩展和综合的语言运用。每个单元还有self check部分,供学生自我检测本单元所学的语言知识之用。学生能从语言的输入到语言的消化吸收最后到学生的语言输出,形成了一个循序渐进的生活化的学习过程。因此作为教师一定要把握好教材的特点:一方面要加强对学生进行语言运用能力的培养,另一方面也需加强学生学习能力和学习策略的培养,同时通过学生对英语国家文化的学习,来帮助他们增强世界意识和爱国主义精神。
这套教材的优点是:
1.扩大了教材容量,增加了语言输入量(词汇量及语篇量)。
2. 更新了语言教学内容,话题更加贴近学生们的日常生活,增强了语言学习的真实性和实用性。
3.改进练习形式,强调学习过程中的互动作用,培养学生的交际能力。
4.重视了文化在交际中的功能和作用。
5.加强了写的训练。本套教材从一开始就加大了写的训练量,尤其是基础性的写作训练,如补全对话、编写对话、信息转换、续写故事、看图写话和自由写作等。
6.以不同的形式增强了教材的趣味性。如做游戏、唱英语歌、猜谜语、看漂亮的图画等;比如,为了激发学生的兴趣,把原来成人化的插图变成了儿童化的卡通画,还增加了一些英语谜语、游戏、歌谣等。删去了一部分单调乏味的语言知识练习,取而代之的是带有情景的交际性、实用性强的语言练习活动。另外,还增加了对话的表演性和幽默成分。
这套教材的不足是:
1.教材内容难度大,对我们农村学生来讲,像第九单元这么多的词汇,学生从心理上就很难接受,在一周内很难消化。
2.结构安排不妥,教材的编排顺序有点零乱,章节之间衔接欠佳,知识点分散,缺乏系统性。特别是前几个单元的教学与与八年级上册的内容有所重复,本人认为可以采取集中教学。因为现在完成时的学习对学生来讲较难,需要用大的课时量来进行学习,学生才能牢固掌握,如蜻蜓点水式的教学,根本解决不了问题。
3.教材内容众多而不易归纳整理。新课标强调学习语言知识的目的是为了更好地运用语言进行交际活动,淡化了学生对语法等知识点的掌握。但从第一册开始,新教材就融入更多的语法点、知识点,练习题中也多次出现陌生的语法项目,让学生很不适应,考试中得不了高分,有损学学困生生的学习积极心。当然对基础好的学生来讲也是一个挑战。

本单元的教学内容简单,而且非常生活化,所以针对不同的内容设计了不同的任务活动。通过课堂的试验,证实了这些任务的可行性,并达到了意想不到的效果。
1.在导入新知识时,通过复习旧的语法点很自然、顺利的进入目标句型的教学。
2.在第一个任务中,图片导入教学就像是兴奋剂,极大的调动了学生的积极性。学生马上能够大胆的运用目标语言练习目标句型。
3.第二个任务是2c,2d两个对话的教学,让学生多读多练多想,而且也使学生养成良好的运用英语的习惯。
本节课的不足之处,由于在学生提问的环节上学生的自主性强,这样胆子大的,英语好的学生就表现突出,获得的锻炼就相对应多;对于英语表达能力差的学生,老师照顾不够,得到的锻炼相对少。所以在以后的教学中还应不断的探索,寻求更大的突破。
