Unit 4 How can we become good learners?
(Section A 3a-3b How I learned to learn English)
I. Teaching material introduction:
本单元的话题是学会学习。语言功能是讨论如何学习。从语言上看练习的语言项目是要求掌握by+v.ing形式表达学习方式。本课是本单元的第二课时,是第一个阅读板块。
II. Teaching aims:
Knowledge aims:
会拼读、能识记新单词:expression,discover,secret,grammar
能够识记、运用下列短语:fall in love with,as well,it’s a piece of cake, look up
Most of the time, too…to…,the secret to,be afraid of doing sth. , be afraid to do sth.
能够运用下列句型完成学习任务。
(1). I also realized I could get the meaning by listening for just the key words.
(2). I discovered that listening to something you are interested in is the secret to language learning.
(3). so…that…..如此……以至于……;The teacher spoke so quickly that I did not understand most of the time.
(4). so that 以便于;为了。 I want to learn new words and more grammar so that I can have a better understanding of English movies.
2.Ability aims:
To improve the students’ abilities of obtaining and handling information quickly and correctly by reading in English.
To organize students speak out their ideas in the debate with the language learnt.
能力目标:提高学生在阅读中获取正确有效信息的能力,并指导学生运用语言,培养用英语表达个人观点的能力。
Emotional aims:
To help students to think about their own ways of English learning and encourage them to become active learners.
情感目标:教师借助本部分的学习,帮助学生反思自己的英语学习方法,鼓励他们成为积极主动的学习者。
III. Teaching procedures and activities:
Step1 Lead-in
出示图片展示英语的重要性,学好英语是为了更好地和世界沟通和交流。有很多学习英语的方式,询问学生日常学习中更常用的学习英语的方式,主要来复习by+v.ing的用法。
活动目的:让学生复习上一课的内容,并思考自己和梳理自己的学习方法,为引出语篇做好铺垫。
Step 2 Reading
1. Before you read
First, look at the photo, the title and the questions in 3a and try to answer the questions.
1) Who is the girl in the picture?
2 ) What does the passage talk about?
3) Did the girl love English at first?
引导学生看文章中的图片、题目和3a中出现的问题,猜测三个问题:图中女孩是谁;文章主要内容是什么;女孩起初喜欢英语吗?
Read the passage quickly and try to complete the table.
Last year…didn’t like English class.
One day…watched an English movie.
Now…really enjoy the English class.
快速阅读课文,完成表格。
活动目的:培养学生快速阅读、寻读的阅读技巧,使学生能熟练运用阅读策略来完成阅读任务。
Step 3 While you read
1. Now read Paragraph 1 and answer the questions.
1) Why didn’t Wei Fen like English class?
2) Was she afraid to ask questions? Why ?
3) What did she do in English class?
活动目的:读第一段了解故事背景,为引出下文做好铺垫。
2. Read Paragraph2 and fill in the blanks.
1) I can understand the meaning by watching their ______ and the _____ on their faces.
2) I can get the meaning by listening for just the _________.
3) My pronunciation improved by listening to the _______ in English movies.

活动目的: 深入了解文本,提高学生用英语获取信息、整合信息、总结归纳的能力。

Step 4 After you read
Retell the text.
活动目的:利用思维导图进行课文的复述,旨在掌握文本重点内容。
Group work. Students talk in groups to share their ideas.
Do you have any problems in your study? Have you found good ways to solve them? How did you do that?
活动目的:通过说、写运用语言,培养用英语表达个人观点的能力。
 We will meet many problems in our daily life. Don’t be afraid. If we regard them as challenges and try to find solutions, we’ll succeed at last.
活动目的:引导学生勇敢面对困难,积极找寻解决问题的方法,相信自己能取得应该的成绩。
 Homework
We should remember the useful ways to learn English.
2)Try to write a passage about learning English if you can.
活动目的:通过分层布置作业降低作业难度,最大化地激发学生学习的积极性,最终达到教育的目的。

课后反思

本节课是八年级下Unit 4 How can we become good learners?
Section A 第二课时How I learned to learn English,这是一节阅读课。在上完课后,几位听课老师对我的这节课进行了点评,是我受益匪浅。现分析如下:
1.整节课符合阅读课的教学模式。从整体读到分段读,循序渐进,思路很清晰,这一点得到大家的认同。但是导入环节学生的参与度不高,虽然问题的设置符合本课的话题,但是效果一般,最终,导致学生回答问题缺乏主动性,课堂气氛不够活跃。今后,应多注意这方面的问题,设置问题应难易适中,从而提高学生们的自信心和开口说英语的能力。
2.在文本学习环节,遵循了总分总,并注意了学习策略的不断渗透,但是在整个过程中教师仍占了主导的地位,老师问学生答,没有真正的实现学生主体的原则。
3.各个环节的衔接比较生硬,缺少有创意的过度,没有激发学生积极思维的热情。
4.语音语调仍然是面对的严峻挑战。
一堂成功的公开课,教师具备熟练驾驭课堂的能力,标准的语音语调,有益于开发学生心智的课堂教学设计。课堂上,教师们除了使用多媒体等现代化教学手段外,另一个重要方面就是处理好了教学的各个环节,既有引人入胜的开头,又有高潮迭起的中场,还有画龙点睛的结尾,更有开启学生发散性思维的升华。尊重学生的不同意见,鼓励学生有创见的思想,特别是在有争议的问题上更注重培养学生多元的思维能力,促进创新精神的形成和发展。让学生在课堂上体验成功的喜悦,获得进取的力量,分享合作的和谐,激发学习热情。
通过本节公开课,以及课后的及时评价,我深深地感到无论怎样构思教学,总要需要我们进一步改进的地方。因此,备好课绝不是一句空话,它需要我们充分了解教材,了解学生,需要我们踏踏实实地考虑好每一环节,这样每一节课才会是高效率的。

教材分析
本单元话题围绕学习本身,讲述了学习的障碍以及应对的解决方法,对学生有重要意义。Section A 内容上侧重英语学习的方法,需要学生学习、训练相关的语言内容及技能。活动3a—3b是本单元的第一个阅读板块。阅读语篇以第一人称讲述了因为对英语电影的喜爱,一名英语学习被动、困难的学生转变成为一名主动学习英语,并且热爱英语的学生的故事。阅读语篇在训练、发展学生阅读水平的同时,能帮助他们意识到提高学习兴趣和改进学习方法的重要性。活动3a提出的三个问题,帮助学生掌握文章的主要内容;活动3b将语篇内容和本单元的重点语言结构“by+v.ing形式”结合,对作者使用的英语学习的方法进行梳理。
