Module 1 Unit 2 I’ve got a new friend
1. Teaching Aims:
(1)Knowledge aim: Words: live, soon, tell, still; I live/She (He) lives ….It was my birthday on Saturday. We were at Buckingham Palace.
(2)Ability aim: Be able to read and write a letter in English.
(3)Moral training aim: Respect the other country’s custom.
2. Importance and difficulty:
Use present tense and common present tense to describe pictures or photos.
3. Teaching Process
Step 1. Warm up
(1)Greetings
(2)Get the Ss to talk about their summer.
e.g.: what did they do Where did they go Did they make new friends
(3)Show the Ss’ pictures taken in the summer and talk about them simply.
(4)Sing several learnt songs.
Step 2.Leading in and task showing.
(1)Take out a letter and a photo got from a new friend and illustrate the photo like this “This is Margie. She’s from America. She’s a student. She’s tall and thin. She’s got brown and long hair. She is very nice. Here is a photo of Margie and me. We were at the Great Wall.”
(2)Ask the Ss “ Do you remember our old friend- Amy Amy got a letter, too. Let’s learn it together. Let’s know how to write a letter in English.”
Step 3.Dialogue Learning
(1)Get the Ss to look at their books and listen to the tape once with the questions “What’s Amy doing What is the letter from
(2) Get the Ss to listen to the tape again and imitate it one sentence by one sentence.
(3)Get the Ss to look for the new words and learn them together.
(4)Listen to the tape thirdly and get individuals to mime it.
(5)Do the work in group of four to practice Part2 of the textbook.
(6)Finish Exercise1 in the unit on the AB (Listen and judge).

C, Check together.
(7)Read the dialogue in pairs and get some pairs to perform it.
Step 4.Task Accomplishment
Write a letter orally in group of four. Then get some groups to show what they prepared.
Step 5.Assignments
(1)Listen to the tape of the unit and mime it three times.
(2)Copy the new words of the unit.
(3)Read an English letter for your parents.
(4)Preview Module 1Unit 2.
