Important: Students can use “can” to make sentences and use “can” to answer.
Difficult: Students can appraise themselves and other people.
Teaching tools: CAI, picture, cards, tape.
Teaching steps:
Step I .Greeting
T: Good morning, boys and girls.
S: Good morning, teacher
Step II .Warming—up
Teacher does some action and let students guess.
(Teacher plays football)
T: What am I doing
Ss: You are playing football.
T: Good.
(Teacher runs.)
T: What am I doing
Ss: You are running.
T: Super. You are so clever.
T: Now I want to ask some students, I say some actions and you do actions. Who can come front
S1: I can.
(Let students come front, Teacher says actions and let students do, teacher should encourage student. )
Step III .New lesson
Teacher shows a picture of Yaoming on TV.
T: Do you know this man Who is he
Ss: Yaoming.
T: Yes, he is yoking, he is a basketball player, so he can play basketball well. “Well” what’s meaning
(Teacher make an example.)
T: Yaoming can play basketball well, but I don’t play well, so “well” what’s meaning
Ss : 好地.
T: Good.
Teacher writes “well” on board, let students read after teacher, and then asks some students to read.
(Teacher asks students)
T: Can you play basketball well
S1: Yes, I can. / No, I can’t.
T: Can you play basketball well
S2: Yes, I can. / No, I can’t.
(Let students say together)
Ss: Can you play basketball well
S3: Yes, I can. / No, I can’t.
Ss: Can you play basketball well
(Teacher asks students like this.)
T: Good, you are so clever. Yoking is in NBA, do you know NBA.
Ss: Yes.
T: NBA is a basketball team.
Teacher writes “team” on the board.

Ss : 队
T: Yes!
Teacher let students read after teacher, and then ask some students to read.
T: Yoking is a good player, so he can control the basketball well.
Teachers write this word on the board.
T: What’s meaning
Ss : 控制
T: Good .now read after me, control
Ss: Control.
Let students read after teacher, then let students read one by one.
Teacher prepares a ball and asks a student to come front.
T: please give me the ball.
Students throw the ball to the teacher.
T: I can catch the ball well.
Teacher explains “catch”, and throws the ball to student.
T: You can catch the ball well. Say together, you can catch the ball together.
Ss: You can catch the ball together.
Teacher throw the ball to some students, and let students say together “you can catch the ball well” again and again.
Teacher shows a picture of Lining on TV.
T: He is ……
Ss: Lauding.
T: Yes, he is Lauding. He can ……..
Ss: Run.
T: Good .Lauding can run fast. “Fast” do you know
Teacher does actions and let students guess the meaning of fast.
T: Lauding can run fast, what’s meaning
Ss: ……….
T: Can you run fast
S1: Yes, I can. / No, I can’t.
T: Can you run fast
S2: Yes, I can. / No, I can’t.
Let student say this question together.
Ss: Can you run fast
S1: Yes, I can. / No, I can’t.
