Step 1 Warm – up
1. Greeting
T: Good morning, boys and girls!
S: Good morning, Miss Yao!
2. Say a chant
“I’m a cat.”
3. Free talk
T: Boys and girls, use the sentence patterns “This is a…” or “That is a…” make sentences.
For example: This is a cat.
Ss make sentences: This is a…/ That is a…
Step 2 Presentation & Practice
1) T: Boys and girls, look at me. What’s this (T takes out a picture of a ball and covers the half of this picture.)

T: Yes, you’re right. It’s a ball.

Show the sentence pattern cards, students read them after the teacher.

For this part, we can exchange some different pictures to practice.

I’d like to divide the whole class into four parts: group1---pencil; group2---pen; group3---book; group---ruler. So you are all school bag group. Then I’ll show some pictures of stationeries. When I show this picture you must ask together: “What’s this ”
For example: When I show the picture of a pen. First all the classes ask together: “What’s this ” and the pen group must stand up and answer “It’s a pen.” When I show the picture of the school bag you must all stand up and answer “It’s a school bag.”
