Module 4 Unit 1 It’s red.
Teaching aims:
1. Learn to say the colors: red, green, black, blue, white, yellow.
2. Learn to ask and answer: What color It’s….
3. Learn to describe the colors of the things around you.
Important and difficult points: remember the colors.
Teaching materials: English book, tape, CD, color pens, color chalk, cards.
Teaching steps:
Warm up:
Sing the English songs we have learned--- Hello Hello! Hello, happy Teachers’ Day! One, two, three, four, five. Ten little Indian boys.
Revision:
Read the words we have learned. (Put ‘orange’ to be the last one)
(Do you want to read the pictures or the words )
one two three four five six seven eight nine ten hello morning afternoon evening night dog panda teacher goodbye orange
Show me what is orange; say “It’s orange.”
Show me what is red: say “It’s red”.
Today we will learn Module 4 Unit 1---“It’s red.”
Presentation
1. Learn the colors:
Show them the card of black, repeat after me (check two by two). Write it on the blackboard.
T: I look with my little eyes, what is black (Encourage the students to look for the black things in the room, say “It’s black.”)
The same way to learn the other colors: green, blue, white, yellow.
(Attention to the pronunciation of ‘white’)
2. Practice the colors:
(Show Ss some stationeries and ask them the question.)
T: What color
S1: It’s red.
Now practice in pairs, use the stationeries on your desk. Then ask a few pairs to act it.
3. Learn the text.
T: I have a pen. Look, what color (Show them the colorful pens) There is an animal; it can change its color just like my pen. Its name is Kami. Repeat “Kami”. Ok, let’s see what color Kami is now. (Show them the slides and ask what color, encourage the students to answer)
Now let’s listen to the tape, point to the picture it’s talking about.
Listen again and repeat after the tape.
4. Practice in groups.
5. Consolidation
Color the rainbow. (Give each student a piece of paper)
Say the colors of the rainbow. For example: This is red. This is yellow. This is orange. This is blue. This is green. …
Sing the song of rainbow. Explain “pink” and “purple”.
Sum-up
Today we have learned six colors: red, yellow, green, blue, black, white.
We have learned how ask the color: What color
We have learned a song: Rainbow.
Homework:
Show the rainbow to your parents and sing the color song to them.
Put two colors together and see what a new color you will get.

Thinking after class
The students can’t understand me totally if I don’t say a Chinese word. I have to find some good ways to make them understand. And on the other side I should teach more classroom English to them step by step.
The multi-medium does not work very well. The students can’t see the colors correctly. So I’d better use the cards or the things in the room.
Forty minutes is too long for the first graders. They are tired at last. They need a break in the middle. Although I did it, they didn’t really relax.
