He was persuaded to give up smoking at last.
若是指劝说成功,若劝说不成功,就不应用persuade,,而应用try to persuade或advise.
alarm n.[C]警报; [U]惊慌;恐慌
vt. 使警觉惊动使惊慌
火灾引起很大恐慌

be alarmed at (the news)被(那消息)吓了一跳.
