Lesson Five
This lesson covers “story time” activity 6 and Andy’s box
Objectives:
*understand the story with pictures and actions
*play different roles of the story
Language focuses
Vocabulary of colour
Sentence structures: I like yellow.
Procedures:
Activity 1:
Chant the thyme in chorus
Activity 2:
Get the children to do activity 6
Activity 3: “Story Time”
Introduce the children to the topic of the story by telling them that his story is about balloons.
Ask the children to open their textbooks. Look at the pictures in the story. Then find out who is in the story and what happens to them.
Elicit from the children the answers to the above questions by rephrasing them into English.
Tell the story, divide the children into different character groups and try to remember the color of the balloon each character likes.
Tell again and invite each character group to join in with the target structures, “I like…”
Play the tape and listen to the whole story again.
Ask the children to read after the tape.
Activity 5:
Elicit from the children what they have learnt in this unit and use Andy’s Box assess their own performance.
