UNIT TWO COME TO MY HOUSE
Lesson Five
Teaching Content: Amy's Garden Listen and connects
Objectives:
At the end of this lesson, hopefully the children will be able to:
1. Ask and answer about someone's location.
2. Understand and retell the story with the help of the teacher.
3. Enjoy dramatizing a similar story.
4. Make a simple self-assessment of their learning in this unit.
Language focuses:
Vocabulary: kitchen washroom living-room room
Structures: Where's Floppy In the kitchen.
Material needed:
Tape and video, picture showing the different places in the story, real puppets of Amy, Amy's daddy and mummy, grandma Tommy and a big book about the story.
Procedures:
Activity 1: Where is Andy's family
1. Ask the children to identify the characters of Andy's family so as to review the family members learnt in Unit One. Tell them to find out the locations of Andy's family.
2. Listen to the tape and match the character with their locations.
3. Check their answer.
Activity 2: Tell the story.
1. Tell the children Amy is looking for his dog, Floppy. Get them to predict where Floppy is.
2. Tell the story to the children with the help of the pictures showing the different places in the story. Remember to make use of the vivid voices, facial expressions, gestures and actions, etc. to attract the children. 21世纪教育网 21世纪教育网
Activity 3: Retell the story.
1. Retell the story involving the children in retelling it together imitating the teacher's vivid voice, facial expressions and actions. Try to help the children to sense the humor of the ending of the story.
2. Ask the children to retell the story with the help of the teacher, the pictures and the real.
Activity 4: Dramatize the story.
1. Give the children enough time to dramatize the story in groups.
2. Go around and offer help with the children's language and performance when they're drama zing the stories in groups.
3. Give the children chances to act out their stories.
Activity 5: I am super in English!
1. Ask the children to do a simple self-assessing activity.
2. Comment on their learning in this unit positively.
