UNIT 3 WHAT DO YOU SEE
Lesson 1
This lesson will cover the six new words in “Let’s sing” section and Activity 1 in the AB.
Objectives:
At the end of this lesson, hopefully children will be able to:
Understand the meaning of the new vocabulary and point to the right pictures in the TPR activities.
Pronounce the new vocabulary correctly and say them in the teacher’s sequence from memory.
Enjoy the whisper game and gain more confidence with the new vocabulary.
Identify the shape of the items from the “crazy” picture of activity 1.
Language focuses:
Vocabulary: TV, sofa, bed, closet, sink, toilet
By the end of this lesson, some children might be able to pick up “Do you see… ”
Materials needed:
Pictures of three empty rooms.
Cutout pictures of the six new household items.
Procedures:
Activity 1: Play a guessing game.
Bring into the classroom three pictures of empty rooms. T: What room is it (One by one)
Allow some guesses first from the children and then stick one of the items into it and gradually add more.
Activity 2: Play a TPR game. (Do the “Listen and point” or alternatively “Run to the correct room”)
Ask the children to come to the board, listen to the teacher’s sequence and point to the correct pictures.
Activity 3: Play a memory game.
Put the pictures of a TV, a sofa and a bed on the board and number them 1, 2, 3.
Say the numbers (1, 2, and 3) and lead the children to say the corresponding words.
When the children have got familiar with the above words, add more pictures of a closet, a sink, and a toilet and number them 4, 5, and 6.
Say the numbers (4, 5, 6.) and lead the children to say the corresponding words.
Randomly remove the pictures on the board one at time from the sequence and ask the children to say the words including the missing pictures until a round has been done.
Do it several times, first with the whole class then with an individual pupil.
Activity 4: Do activity 1 on P11 Activity Book.
Set up a situation for activity 1 in AB.
In groups of four, have the children spot the items and take turns to read them out.
Have the children color the pictures with any color they prefer.
Check the answers by showing some samples from the children.
Activity 5: End the lesson
Elicit the new vocabulary from the children. Suggest the children draw their own pictures of these items or other items in their own house.
