UNIT 3 WHAT DO YOU SEE
Lesson 2
This lesson will cover the six new words in “Let’s try”,”Let’s Chant” section and Activity 2 & 3 in the AB.
Objectives:
At the end of the lesson, hopefully children will be able to:
Follow the tape/ teacher and chant the rhyme.
Respond to the pictures with chanting.
Respond to the target words with actions.
Understand, say and recognize the words “in, on, under and behind”
Get the gist of the story from the pictures.
Retell the story.
Use the key words to talk about the pictures in the AB.
Language focuses:
Vocabulary: in, on, under, behind, like, ball, chair, table, fridge
By the end of this lesson, some children might be able to pick up “I like…/ where’s the mouse / Where do you see it ” during the lesson.
Materials needed:
Tape, pictures.
A puppet of a dog.
Procedures:
Activity 1: Play a game “I like my…”
Introduce the game and explain the rulers briefly, i.e. Let’s play this game in teams.
Get an equal number of children to form the teams.
Decide the sets of the words for the game, i.e. my school things, my toys, etc.
Elicit from the children the words belonging to the same set, i.e. school things, toys, household items, family members, room in a house. Introduce the new vocabulary by recasting the children’s answers.
Demonstrate the way of playing the game with a group of children.
Optional: Do a survey.
Tell the children that you want to make a survey to find out what their favorite toy is.
Elicit from the children three of their favorite toys by saying “Do you have a… / Do you like it ”
Write them on the board.
Tell the children to vote their favorite toys one by putting up their hands. Provide more language, i.e. you like…/ Do you like… / So … is your favorite.
Activity 2: Chant the thyme.
Explain the requirements for listening to the chant.
Play the tape and ask the children to listen only.
Ask the children to beat the rhyme.
Ask the children to chant after the tape or follow the teacher.
Suggest the children to stand up when they chant to the words TV, doll, scooter, and ball.
Stick the poster on the board.
Ask the children to stick the small pictures of TV, doll, scooter, and ball next to the relevant words on the poster.
Underline doll, ball and all as a rhymed ending.

Activity 3: Tell the story “Let’s Try”.
Show the OHP pictures of “Let’s Try” with the projector.
Introduce the target language with the above meaningful situation.
Deliver the pictures of the story to the children and ask them to stick the pictures on the board according to the sequence of the plot during the second telling.
Use the puppet, pictures, and change of intonation.
Tell the story again and check the pictures on the board.
Tell the story again by inviting the children to join in with the key words or incomplete sentences.
Ask the children to practice telling the story in groups.
Activity 4: Do “Listen and tick”.
Ask the children to open their activity books at P13, EX3
First, play a “listen and point” game in groups.
Then play the tape and ask the children to tick the correct pictures in the small boxes.
Ask the children to report their answers to the whole class.
Activity 5: Do “Look and say”.
Set up a situation for the activity by saying, “I’ve got a crazy picture.
Explain the purpose and the outcome of the activity.
Elicit from the children what items they have seen in the picture.
Ask the children to describe their findings in groups first then to the whole class.
Activity 6: End the class.
Suggest the children to listen to the tape after class.
Draw a girl for “Bingo” game.
