UNIT 3 WHAT DO YOU SEE
Lesson 3
This lesson will cover "Let’s Sing", "Let’s Play” section and Activity 4 in the AB.
Objectives:
At the end of this lesson, hopefully children will be able to:
Remember the words more clearly.
Match the words the corresponding pictures.
Imitate the teacher or the recording and the song in chorus.
Follow the rulers of the game and enjoy playing it.
Listen carefully to the teacher and respond correctly.
Language focuses:
Vocabulary: TV, sofa, closet, sink, bed, toilet
Materials needed:
The tape, a toy dog, Amy’s house, the poster of the song in words, flash cards of words,
Procedures:
Activity 1: Take Floppy to his new house.
Set up a situation for the revision of the new vocabulary.
Show pictures 1 on the projector, mimic talking to the puppet.
Repeat the previous process for “bedroom” and “washroom”.
Activity 2: Chat / Sing the song.
Set up a situation for the rhyme.
Hold up the dog puppet and demonstrate chanting a picture of me in a rhythmical tone sharing four beats for each line.
Chant again.
Identify the class as the “living-room” group, the “bedroom” group and the “washroom” group respectively. 21世纪教育网 21世纪教育网
Swap identities so that the children have the chance to say the whole rhyme.
Sing the song.
Activity 3: Do “Read and Stick”.
Stick the poster of the song on the board or show it through projector.
Ask the children to find out the six words in the song.
Ask the children to match the cutout pictures with the words on the poster.
Point to the words randomly and ask the children to read them out.
Ask the children to open their AB p14.
Demonstrate the first example of sticking the picture on the correct word.
Encourage the children to do the activity in pairs.
Ask the children to describe, “What do they see in their own living-room, bedroom and washroom” as a follow-up activity.
Activity 4: Watch my lips.
Put the flash word cards on the board, namely TV, sofa, bed, closet, sink, toilet, living room, bedroom, washroom, chair, table, and fridge.
Tell the children that you will mouth the words only.
Ask the children to watch carefully and try to recognize what word you are mouthing.
Then say the words.
Give five points for every winner.
Activity 5: Play the “Bingo” game.
Explain the rulers of the game: When you hear the word, look at your grid and see whether it is in it. If yes, put a counter on it. When you have covered three words in a row in vertical, horizontal or diagonal directions, then immediately call out “Bingo”. The first child to cover all the spaces on his or her grid wins.
Activity 6: Know how well I am.
Have the children to evaluate their partner’s competence of words with the results of the game or the quickness and accuracy of their response during the game in groups.
Describe the simple criteria for the assessment.
Activity 7: End the class.
Suggest the children negotiate different tasks among the group members for the preparation of “Let’s Make” section in the next period.
