UNIT FIVE
Lesson Three
Teaching content: Let's chant & Let's play
Objectives:
At the end of this lesson, hopefully the children will be able to:
1. Understand and say the names of the twelve months.
2. Remember the months of their own birthdays.
3. Ask and answer about one's birthday.
4. Introduce the months of their own birthdays.
Language focus:
Vocabulary: January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, November, December
Structures: When's your birthday In September.
I'm My birthday is in
Material needed:
Tape Puppet Amy a drum and its drumstick blank names cards lucky boards for each group pencils and birthday forms for each group.
Procedures:
Activity 1: Let's chant.
1. Show Puppet Amy to greet the children first and then chant with Amy.
2. Play the tape and let the children listen to the chant again. Then ask them to learn to chant together following the teacher and Amy.
3. Let the children chant in different groupings.
Activity 2: Let's make a form of our birthdays!
1. Tell the children that they will make a form of their birthdays in groups so that everybody can get congratulation from the classmates later.
2. Stick a form on the blackboard and introduce the English names of the twelve months one by one. Meanwhile, the children born in the corresponding months stand up. For example, when the teacher says January, the children born in January stand up.
3. Ask the children to write their names on the black name cards.
6. Give each group a form and ask them to listen to the teacher and stick their name cards beside the corresponding month of their own their own birthday in groups.
Activity 3: Let's play TPR games.
1. Play TPR Game1: Listen and stand. When the teacher says January, all the children who were born in January stand up as quickly as they can.
2. Play TPR Game2: Listen, stand and say. When the teacher calls a name" Sally! When is your birthday ” Sally should stand up and say "December".
Activity 4: Introduce your birthdays!
1. Ask the children to introduce their birthdays in groups using the birthday forms. The teacher can set up an example first.
2. Let some children to introduce their birthdays to the whole class.
Activity 5: Let's play a "lucky board" game.
1. Give each group a "Lucky Board" and explain the rules of the game to the children.
2. Demonstrate the game with a group how to play the game.
3. All the group starts the game.
