UNIT FIVE
Lesson Four
Teaching Content: Story time
Objectives:
At the end of this lesson, hopefully the children will be able to:
1. Name the presents they want for their birthday.
2. Underatand and retell the story with the help of the teacher.
4. Enjoy dramatizing a similar story.
Language focuses:
By the end of this lesson, some children might be able to pick up chunks like I want __ for my birthday. Retell and dramatize the story.
Material needed:
Tape, puppets of Andy, Baby Andy, Baby Amy, Baby Koto, and Baby Bobby some birthday presents
Procedures:
Activity 1: Tell the story. 21世纪教育网 21世纪教育网
1. Tell the children Andy overhears babies talking about birthday presents they want, and get them to predict what presents the babies want.
2. Tell the children with the help of the pictures or the real. Remember to make good use of the vivid voices and facial expressions, gestures and actions to attract the children.
Activity 2: Let's sing the song "Happy Birthday to You" to Andy!
1. Play the tape and ask the children to sing the song Happy Birthday To You to Andy together.
Activity 3: Retell the story.
1. Retell the story involving the children in retelling it together imitating the teacher's vivid voice, facial expressions and action.
2. Ask the children to retell the story with the help of the teacher, the pictures or real.
Activity 4: Dramatize the story.
1. Give the children enough time to dramatize the story in groups.
2. Go around and offer help to the children with their language and performance in the group work.
3. Give the children chance to act out the stories. They don't need to act out exactly the same story as the one in the textbook. They can create their own similar ones.
