UNIT 6 I WANT ICE CREAM!
Lesson One
This lesson will cover LET’S SING
Objectives:
By the end of this lesson, hopefully the pupils will be able to:
Understand and say the words (noodles, tea, cookies, milk); the fast learner can recognize their written forms.
Understand the meaning of the song “I like noodles, I kike tea”.
Sing the song after the tape or teacher and do some corresponding actions along with it.
Material Needed: pictures, regalia of milk cake orange juice apple banana and ether kinds of food. Pictures or puppets of a girl, a cat, a dog, a bird.
Language Focus:
1. Words: noodles, tea, cookies, milk (productive)
2. Sentence structure: I like ... (receptive)
Procedures:
Activity 1: Play an action guessing game 21世纪教育网 21世纪教育网
1. Ask the children to recall the words about food they’re learnt.
2. The teacher does the actions of eating the food above and asks the children to guess what the teacher is eating.
3. The teacher presents the four new words (noodles, tea, cookies, milk), by doing the actions and showing the real food or drink. The children watch and listen to the teacher attentively.
4. The teacher says the new words and doses the actions. The children watch and listen to the teacher and copy the actions.
5. The teacher says the 8 words about food without doing the actions. The children listen to the teacher and do the actions.
6. The teacher does the actions, the children say the words to guess what the teacher is eating or drinking.
7. The children play the guessing game in pairs. One does the actions, the other says the words.
Activity 2: Play a chain game “I like...”
1. Name the game and give a demonstration.
2. Run a trial of the game.
3. Clarify the rules of the game.
4. The children play the game.

Activity 3: Play the game “Chinese Whisper” and say the chant
1. Clarify the rules of the game.
2. The children play the game.
3. The children put the paper with the words of the song on the black in order.
4. The teacher says the chant in a four-beat-rhythm. The children listen and try to say the chant.
Activity 4: Sing the song in LET’S SING
1. The children listen to the song for the first time.
2. Encourage the children to hum with the tune of the song along with the tape recorder when the song is played for the second time.
3. The children sing along with the tape recorder or the teacher... Encourage them to do relevant actions at the same time.
4. The children sing the song all together or individually.
5. Encourage the children to sing the song with other substitutes of the words.
Activity 5: Recognize the new words. (Optional)
1. The children look at the words of the song, listen or sing the song again, then discuss and find out the four new words in-group.
2. Ask some children to come to the front of the classroom and point out the four new words, and then the teacher puts the words cards with pictures on the blackboard.
3. The children listen and point at the words or put them in order.
4. The teacher splits the pictures from the words and put them in random order. Ask some children to match the words and pictures.
5 Take the pictures away. The children read and the pictures.
Activity 6: End the lesson
1. Give the children time to share their feeling and what they’ve achieved in this lesson.
2. Encourage the children to sing the English song they have learn in this lesson to their parents or friends.
