Unit 5 I’m skating.
Let’s learn
Objectives
Hopefully the children will
.enjoy reading and listening to the story and be able to act it out.
Structures: I’m --ing.
Chunks: I‘m drinking coke. I‘m riding a bike
Procedures:
1. Ask the children to look at their books at Page 44 and read “let‘s learn” after the tape.
2 Ask the children to role-play “Let‘s Learn” with actions.
3 Group-work drawing: Assign a drawing task in which each child is describes his/her activity with pictures.
4 Show them the model work as in “Project” in P49.
5 When then finish, ask them to describe it in groups, “This is me. I'm skipping rope.”
6 Get the children to show their pictures to the other groups and describe it in English.
7 Play the “Right or wrong” game. Ask a group to come to the front and describe the people their picture one by one. If the description and the pictures match, the whole class repeats the sentence again. If not the other children should shut the mouth.
LET‘S SING
Objectives:
Hopefully the pupils will be able to do the corresponding actions while singing; sing the song in chorus; enjoy the song.
Language focus
Vocabulary:
Known: eating, drinking, swimming, skating
Structures:
Known: What are you doing
New: I’m having a happy time.
I’m dancing. I’m singing.
Procedures:
1 listen to the tape and look at the VCD, ask them if they love the song
2 T sings the song with the actions
3 T sings the song again and children try to repeat and do the actions
4 Play the tape and children sing along
5 children stand up and do the actions and sing the song together.
Let’s play.
Objectives
By the end of this section, hopefully the children will be able to
·respond to the teacher's procedure:
·name the time
Language
Vocabulary: skating, riding, swimming
Procedure:
1 T does the action and let children guess what she is doing
2 tell children they can answer with the sentences “Are you ---ing No, I am not.”
3 groups competition begin
4 parse the winner
5 play in pairs
Let’s chant
Objectives:
By the end of this section, hopefully the children will be able to enjoy the activity and understand the instruction of the teacher
Repeat the dialogue
Language
Vocabulary: in the sun, chasing, having fun
Procedure:
·Set up a situation with the pictures, teach the new ones
Tell the children that you are going to say a chant for them.
Beat the rhythm with hands and say the chant, children do the actions
·Demonstrate before you ask the children to say the chant
·Ask the children to show their chant to their parents,
Story time
Objectives:
Enjoy the story; enjoy story-telling, express preferences in role-play.
Language focus:
Known: fly, fly a kite
New: bird, eagle
Structures: I’m flying. I can fly.
Procedures:
1 Arrange the children to sit comfortably or closer to you so that they can hear and see you clearly during the story telling
2 Tell the children that you are going to tell a story about Tommy and Amy. Talk with the children about the topic of the story
3 Raise some questions before watching the VCD.
4 T tells the story again; try to involve the children by using gestures, facial expressions and realties
5 Tell the story again and ask the children to join in with actions.
6 Role-play the story with the children together.
7 Get children to discuss the ending in groups, then draw pictures to indicate it. Share them in class.
