Step 1. Leading in
1. get the students to be familiar with the aims in this period
2. use some questions to arouse their interests in learning grammar.

Step 2. Introduction
1. Ask the students to read the following sentences , translate them and then speak out the figure of speech of the underlined part.
Luckily enough, Tom finished his task on time.
He stood there, unable to speak.
He sat down at the desk and began to go through the files.
I stood there, astonished by the dangerous performance.
Walking along the shore, they felt comfortable.
The ice is too thin to skate on.
2. Introduce the definitions and types of adverbial clause and key points in NCEE
状语从句的考查要点: 1.准确掌握每一个连词的含义是掌握状语从句的关键。
2.同时要注意主从句的时态呼应
Step 3. Presentation
Present the students the conjunctions of the adverbial clause of time and explain their usages in detail.
常用引导词：when, while, as, before, after, since , till, until, as soon as, once, whenever.
特殊引导词：
a.名词类（由名词词组充当引导词）：the moment ,the minute, the second, the instant, etc. (一…就…); by the time, every time, each time, next time, the last time, the first time, etc.
b.副词类 directly, immediately, instantly (一… 就)
c.句型类 no sooner … than,
hardly …when,
scarcely … when（一…就）
Step 4. Exercises
Ask the students to do more exercises related to the adverbial clause of time
Step 5 Homework
Go through the whole passage again and pick out all the adverbial clauses o f time and finish off the exercises in this module.
