1、分段阅读课文，其中1、2、4段各用时1分钟，第3段用时3分钟，整篇课文共用时6分钟。
2、阅读后回答下面问题。
3、完成课前练习A、B。
a. Paragraph 2 describes a kind of bird.
b. Paragraph 4 is about the future of this type of work.
c. Paragraph 1 describes an old man.
d. Paragraph 3 describes how the man works.
Dear Joyce
I think it would be a good idea to have some articles in our newspaper about traditional Chinese skills. For example, I saw a programme on television about an (1) elderly man who fished with birds called (2) cormorants . He is over (3) 65 , but he fished every day with his (4) twelve birds. He lives with them all the time. Sometimes the birds even sit on his (5) head ! The birds dive into the water and catch (6) fish , but they cannot eat them because the man ties a piece of (7) grass around their necks. So they take the fish back to him, and he removes the fish from the birds’ (8) mouths . After the programme I wrote this article for our newspaper. I hope you like it.
