教学设想   The aim of this lesson is to improve the students’ abilities of listening and speaking. But the topic of this unit---The Big Move is not familiar to the students. So the teacher can introduce Susan and Susan’s problems, then help the students to find more problems a person may have when she / he makes a big move. After that, the students can make up a mini play to show Susan’s problems.

Step 1 Leading-in To warm up and create a warm and friendly atmosphere.
Let the students guess the meaning of “The Big Move” and help them understand the topic of this unit. 
Step 2 Presentation  Introduce the topic of this unit.
1. Talk about the pictures and introduce the feeling words. 2. Introduce Susan and her problems when she first came to China. 3. Listening
Step 3 Practice To improve the students’ abilities of listening and reading.
1. Listen again and do the exercises. 2. Read the listening material in pairs.
Step 4 Drill  To improve the students’ ability of communication. 
Make a new dialogue according to the listening material. Try to imagine other problems Susan may have.   
Step 5 Creative Learning Performance To broaden the students’ minds and they can use English to express their ideas freely.

教学设想 The aim of this lesson is to improve the students’ reading skills and have the students understand the reading material about Susan’s big move. So the teacher can help the students to grasp the topic sentences of each paragraph, the main idea of this passage and some details about this reading by scanning and skimming.

Step 1 Free talk To warm up and lead in the new lesson.
1. The teacher and the students have a free talk about their diaries. 2. Talk about Susan’s problems in lesson One.  
Step 2 Presentation   Introduce the reading material.
Listen to the tape with the question: How did Susan feel after talking to Liu Chang
Step 3 Practice To improve the students’ reading abilities.
1. Read the passage silently and answer the five questions given. 2. Try to translate the five sentences into Chinese.3. Match the new words with their meanings.4. Read after the tape, then choose any part they like to read.

教学设想 1. Reorganize teaching materials in order to make the students practice both pronunciation and words first.2. By reviewing Lesson 2, make the students understand the grammar of time clause better.
Step 1 Warm-upShow the students the chant and ask them to try to follow it.
Step 2 Divide the whole lesson into three parts: the area of W (words and phrases), the area of P (pronunciation) and the area of S (structure). The students will choose which part to deal with first.Pronunciation(A) Students read after the tape about the words and circle the stressed syllable in each word. Then explain the rules of stressed syllable.(B) Explain the rules of stressed words in a sentence. (Key words, such as nouns, verbs, pronouns, adjectives, adverbs etc. should be stressed in a sentence.) After explanation, ask the students to listen to the tape and circle the two words that get the most stress in each sentence.
Step3 Words and phrases(A) Show a picture of a clown . Ask questions: Who is this What does he do Can you modify the clown with some adjectives With the help of these questions, students will fill in the blanks with the words given easily.Show another picture of an ostrich. Ask questions: Will the ostrich be near to you, when you find it in the zoo Why not These questions also can help the students fill in the blanks.(B) Look at the picture in this part and let the students talk about the picture.
Step4 Structure (A) Explain what the time adverbial clause is. (B) Ask students find time adverbial clause in Lesson Two.(C) Remind the students of the conjunctions and the tense.(D) Do some exercises about the conjunctions.(E) Play a game between boys and girls about the time clause.(F) Play a flash of my friend, Mike. Ask the students to write some time clauses about Mike’s day. (G) Make a survey about “ What does your classmate do as soon as he gets home from school ” and “ What does he do before he goes to bed ”Talk about the teacher’s day and tell students how important it is to form a good life habit.
Step5 Homework:Please have a look at your old photographs and write about your last trip.

教学设想 1. Reorganize teaching materials in order to make this lesson easier for the students to learn. First step, we will deal with Group Work. Students will play a game about the time clause according to Part A in Group Work.2. Show videos of the student’s first day. Ask and answer questions about it. Then let the students practice writing their first day of school.3. Listen to the dialogue and make a survey according to the dialogue.
Step 1 Warm-upAsk students to do some actions and the other students make sentences with the time clause.
Step 2 Competition(A) Divide the whole class into four groups. Ask students to make sentences with the time clause. Group A chooses a question board for Group B. If Group B can make a correct sentence, GB can get a flag. If not, GA will get a flag instead. Then GB chooses a question board for GC… (B) Ask students to tell four things about themselves. Give students 30 seconds to prepare.
Step3 Writing work (On Your Own)(A) Show students a video of their classmate’s first day of school. After watching, ask and answer some questions.(B) Show another video of their classmate’s first day of school. Divide the class into groups of four. Let the students talk about the video and each in the group will say something about the video.(C) Ask students to write about their first day of school.
Step4 ListeningPlay the tape and talk about the dialogue.
Step5 Making a survey.Ask students to make a survey according to the sentences in the dialogue box.People may feel very nervous , when they first do something. They will feel better after they practice more. So let the whole class know “Practice makes perfect.”.
Step6 HomeworkEveryone has his first time to do something. Please write a passage as the assignment.
