一、教学目标
认知目标: 理解句子What day is today 并学会用It’s……的句式回答。
技能目标: 能根据图片用What day is today It’s……进行问答。
情感目标: 了解一些节日,并懂得这些节日的意义。
二、教学过程:
Step 1. Pre-task preparation
1. Sing together. 《Days of the Week》.
2. Look at the word cards and read one by one.
3. Exercise: Look, judge and stick.
T: Look at the board. Can you find out the correct word for them Please come to the front and stick the word on the right place.

Step 2. While-task procedure
1. Show today’s calendar.
T: Today is ……(date). Now look, who can tell me what day is today It’s……
S1: It’s Monday/ Tuesday/ Wednesday/ Thursday/ Friday.
2. Ask and answer.
① Teacher asks some students to answer: What day is today
Write the sentences on the board: What day is today
It’s …….
Ss repeat the structure.
② Pair work.
T: Now let’s do some pair work. Please ask and answer with your deskmate.
Teacher then asks some groups to act out.
3. Show the slide of Page 39.
① Picture 1.
T: Suppose today’s January 1st, 2002. We all know that January 1st is New Year’s Day. Follow me: New Year’s Day.
Sing together “Happy New Year to you!”
T: Look at the picture carefully. What day is today Who can answer
S1: It’s Tuesday.
② Picture 2.
T: Look at this picture. Who can do some pair work
Sa: What day is today
Sb: It’s Wednesday..
T: It’s May (Show five fingers.) 1st, 2002. May 1st is Labour Day. Read after me: Labour Day.
③ Picture 3.
T: It’s May 12th, 2002. What festival (Point to the line “Mother’s Day”.)
Ss: Mother’s Day.
T: Right. What day is today Please ask your classmate one by one.
④ Picture 4.
T: Look, children. It’s June (Show six fingers.) 1st, 2002. June 1st is Children’s Day. That’s your festival. Do you like Children’s Day
T: What day is today Now boys ask and girls answer. Then we’ll change.
Step 3. Post-task activities
1. A match.
T: Now let’s have a match. OK Listen to me carefully.
I will ask two students to come to the front. One takes the Chinese cards, and the other takes the English cards. The one who can take the right card quickly is the winner. Who can have a try
T: I also need your help. Which pair can help me
S1: What day is today
S2: It’s Sunday/ Monday/ Tuesday/ Wednesday/ Thursday/ Friday/ Saturday.
2. A guessing game.
T: Then let’s play a guessing game. I need two students join in the game each time. One looks at the Chinese card, then tell your partner mutely in English. And the other must look at his/ her mouth and guess the word.
