Step1. Warm up:T: Class begins!Morning! Boys and girls!S: Morning ,teacher!T: Sit down, please!Step2. Review1. Review the numbers one through twenty in a class drill.2. Review the numbers. Write the word thirty on the board. Say the number aloud and have the children repeat it after you.3. Repeat the procedure for the other numbers.Step 3. Listen to this1. Direct the children’s attention to the clocks and watches at the bottom of the page. Point to the first picture and ask, “What time is it ” Elicit, “It’s two o’clock.”2. Repeat this procedure for the other pictures.3. Explain to the children that they will hear a sentence on the tape and they must match it to the correct picture.4. Play the tape, stopping after each sentence, and have the children point to the corresponding picture. Make sure that the children are all touching the correct picture before you continue.5. Play the tape again, stopping after each sentence. Explain that this time you want the children to number the pictures according to their order on the tape.6. Review the sentences in a class drill.Step 4. Sing a song1. Explain to the children that they are going to learn a song about telling the time..2. Have the children open their books at page 17. show your copy of the page. Point to the picture of the clock . say, “What’s this ” Elicit, “It’s a clock.” Now ask, “What time is it ” the children should answer, “It’s one o’clock.”3. Play the song once without stopping and have the children listen. Encourage them to clap in time to the music.4. Play the tape again, this time stopping after each line. Have the children practice singing each line after they hear it on the tape.5. Now play the song without stopping, and have the children sing along.Step 5. Talk together1. Have the children turn to page 18. Draw their attention to the top of the page. Show your copy of the page. Tell them the children in the picture are playing a guessing game. One child indicates a time using his / her arms as clock’s hands. The other children guess the time and its matching activities.2. Point to the speech bubbles and have the children read the sentences. Have the children touch the words in their books as you do so. Then have them repeat the sentences after you.3. Draw their attention to the box to the picture. Tell the children that they are going to use these times and activities to play the game.4. Put the children into groups and play the game. Each time call out a child from a group. Have the child act out a time, and other children must guess the time and its corresponding activity. You can also keep scores.5. Alternatively, have a child mime an activity in the box and other children guess the time.6. Repeat the procedure for the second dialog.8. Put the children in pairs and have them practice the first dialog. Encourage them to substitute other activity names in new time in the first dialog. They can substitute more activities etc.Step 6. Listen and match.1. Have the children open their books at page 18. Show your copy of the page. Point to each picture and have the children tell you the names of the activity.2. Play the first sentence and point to the first clock, then stop the tape. Ask, “What time is it ” have the children point to the time and answer.3. Repeat for the other clocks.4. Play the tape again, stopping after each sentence. Explain that this time the children need to draw a line between the picture and it’s matching time.5. Review the answers in a class drill.Step 7. extendMake a new dialogue.Step 8. Sum up: Today we have learned the time expression. Practise the students’ listening And speaking Practise the new words.
