Everyone likes a well-mannered person. A well-mannered person knows what he should do and what he shouldn’t do . Here are some examples.
He never laughs at the people in trouble. Instead, he tries his best to help and make them feel comfortable. We say that a person has good manners because he is polite, kind and helpful to others. Everyone likes people with good manners. He always treats people kindly. He is kind to the animals too. When people are waiting in line for a bus, or in a cinema, he always waits for his turn politely. He does not push in before others. If he bumps into someone in the street, or someone gets in his way, he says; “ Sorry” or “ Excuse me” .
He says “Please” when asking for help and ‘ Thank you” when he receives something from other people . He usually stands up when he talks to a lady or an elder person, and he does not sit down until the other person is seated. He does not cut in on other people while they are talking. He does not talk too much about himself. He does not talk or laugh loudly in public.
However, people in different countries have different manners. Before entering a house in some Asian countries it is necessary to take off one’s shoes. In European countries , even though shoes sometimes become very dirty, this is not done. A guest in a Chinese house never finishes a drink, he leaves some to show that he has had enough. In England, a guest always finishes a drink to show that he has enjoyed it.
People all over the world agree that good manners really mean being kind and helpful to others. So remember this and be a well-mannered person.
