The Chinese word “Shanzhai” means a small mountain village, but now it becomes an accepted name for fakes (假货), after “Shanzhai Cell-phones” produced by small workshops in southern China became popular in the mainland market over the past two years.
Besides “Shanzhai” electronic products, there are “Shanzhai” movies, “Shanzhai” stars and even a “Shanzhai” Spring Festival Gala (联欢晚会), a copy of the 25-year-old traditional show presented by CCTV on Chinese Lunar New Year’s Eve.
“Shanzhai” has become a culture of its own, meaning anything that imitates something famous.
In Chongqing, “Shanzhai” version “Bird’s Nest” and “Water Cube” woven by farmers with bamboo attract wide attention from tourists. Both are copies of the famous Olympic buildings in Beijing.
A literature critic said that taking the “Shanzhai” Gala as an example, when the traditional CCTV program becomes less and less attractive to the audience, the “Shanzhai” version appears timely to attract people. “Although it is often connected with poor techniques and operation, ‘Shanzhai’ culture meets the psychological needs of common people and could be a comfort to their minds,” he said.
To the mainstream (主流的) culture, the rise of “Shanzhai” culture is a challenge and a motivation (动力). People believe different kinds of cultures developing together is a perfect situation and it is for the public to choose.
60. The Chinese word “Shanzhai” may have started with ______.
A. fake cell-phones B. electronic products

B. is the challenge of “Shanzhai” culture
C. will be replaced by “Shanzhai” culture
D. may develop faster because of the challenge of “Shanzhai” culture
63. Which of the following might be the best title of the passage?
A. “Shanzhai” culture will definitely disappear
B. “Shanzhai” culture takes on life of its own
C. “Shanzhai” culture — the mainstream culture
D. “Shanzhai” culture — the mountain village culture

TUVALU, a tiny country in the Pacific Ocean, has asked for help as it will be swallowed (吞没) up by the sea.
Storms and huge waves are a constant threat and none of Tuvalu’s nine little islands is more than five meters above sea level. Salt water is already entering the country’s drinking water supply, as well as damaging plants that produce fruit and vegetable. Without urgent help, the country’s days are numbered.
But Tuvalu is not the first place to face sinking into the sea. Venice, a historic city in Italy best known for its canals, has sunk about 24 cm over the past 100 years. Experts say that it will have sunk another 20-50cm by 2050. While Venice is slowly sinking into the mud on which it stands, Tuvalu’s rising sea level is caused by global warming.
The average global temperature has increased by almost 0.5 centigrade degrees over the past century; scientists expect it will rise by extra 1-3 degrees over the next 100 years.
Warmer weather makes glaciers (冰川) melt, and adds more water to the ocean. The warmer temperatures also make water expand, so it takes up more space, causing the sea level to rise. The sea level has risen about 10-25 cm in the last 100 years.
The main cause of global warming is human pollution. Through burning coal, oil and gas, people have been increasing the greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, such as CO2. This adds to the power of the greenhouse effect, making the planet even warmer.
Many scientists believe that, if the warming is not stopped, there will be huge climate changes. The sea level could rise by one meter this century. If this should come true, the sea will swallow up millions of homes and the world will be flooded with “climate refugees” looking for somewhere to live.
68. We can infer from the second paragraph that ______.
A. Tuvalu is in danger of being swallowed up by the sea
B. all Tuvalu’s islands are about five meters above the sea level
C. drinking water in Tuvalu has been destroyed
D. Tuvalu is often flooded by storms and waves
69. According to the 6th paragraph, put the following events in the right order.
a. The greenhouse effect is growing.
b. People burn coal, oil and gas.
c. The earth is getting warmer and warmer.
d. More CO2 is produced.
A. d, b, c, a B. b, c, d, a C. c, b, d, a D. b, d, a, c
70. What does “climate refugees” mean?
A. Climate changes. B. Climate effect.
C. People forced away from their homeland by climate.
D. Rare animals moving from place to place.
71. Which of the following is False according to the passage?
A. The sea level has risen about 10-25 cm in the last 100 years for warmer temperatures.
B. The average global temperature has risen by 1-3 centigrade degrees over the past 100 years.
C. The warmer temperature causes the sea level to rise.
D. There will be huge climate changes unless the warming is stopped.

A. Brief introduction to Lonely Planet guidebook.
B. The influence of the Lonely Planet.
C. The advantages Lonely Planet has brought us.
D. The regret after using the Lonely Planet
E. The main content in the Lonely Planet
You can love them or hate them, but no matter which tourist destination you visit, chances are that you’ll see someone with their head buried in a Lonely Planet guidebook.
A. Brief introduction to Lonely Planet guidebook
Lonely Planet is one of the world’s largest travel guide brands, publishing more than 500 different guides in eight languages. The popular brand also produces television shows, websites and podcasts (播客) all dedicated to travel.
72.
Some people praise Lonely Planet books because they make traveling easy and affordable. They also save time and make sure you don’t miss the best thing.
73.
They also provide the important information related to the hostels and hotels, restaurants and ticket. Reading Lonely Planet guidebooks can help you get whatever information about your destination.
74.
But others criticize Lonely Planet and other travel guide publishers like them. They say guidebooks take the fun and spontaneity out of traveling, and that part of the enjoyment of travel comes from the fact that anything can happen. If you follow a guidebook, you’ll end up doing the same thing and having the same experience as everyone else.
75.
Another criticism of travel guides is that they have a large effect on local communities. Some locals dedicate their lives to behaving in ways that attract tourists. They wear traditional clothes and live in traditional houses to attract the tourist dollar.

One possible version:
We produce millions of waste batteries every year. We often throw them into the dustbin directly, yet it is wrong to do so. As we know, they will pollute water and get soil poisoned. Some metals contained in them will do harm to our health, even lead to cancer. So, firstly, we should do something to make people around realize the serious situation and work together to improve it. Secondly, I suggest that we should sort the rubbish and set special dustbins to collect and recycle waste batteries. Thirdly, I recommend that we use environmentally-friendly batteries, so that we can save our earth
