B
I
stayed
for
a
while
in
Costa
Rica
years
ago.
One
morning
I
was
shopping
in
a
local
farmers
market.
I
loved
that
market.
The
selection
of
produce
was
exceptional!
I
had
parked
my
car
a
few
blocks
away
at
Firestone.
An
hour
into
my
shopping,
I
reached
in
my
purse
for
my
phone.
I
dug
around
searching
and
searching
...
no
phone!
I
had
butterflies
in
my
stomach
since
the
zipper(拉链)
was
not
zipped
on
my
bag
and
perhaps
my
phone
fell
out
or
got
picked
up
by
wondering
hands.
I
went
around
to
all
the
venders
(摊主)
I
had
visited
asking
if
they
had
come
across
a
lost
iPhone
.But
no
such
luck.
Disappointed,
I
walked
out
of
the
market
with
all
my
fresh
organic
produce.
In
front
of
me
was
an
older
lady
walking
slowly
with
a
heavy
bag
in
each
hand.
I
observed
many
people
passing
her.
At
first
I
thought
of
doing
the
same,
as
I
was
worried
about
my
phone.
But
then
I
heard
a
voice
in
my
heart
saying
"help
her".
In
Spanish,
I
asked
the
old
lady
if
I
could
give
her
a
hand.
She
gladly
handed
me
a
bag
and
we
walked
on.
She
was
probably
in
her
late
70s
and
the
bag
I
took
from
her
was
full
of
produce.
She
asked
about
my
family
and
my
job.
My
Spanish
was
far
from
perfect.
I
tried
to
explain
to
her
but
I
was
not
sure
whether
she
understood.
As
we
came
to
a
street
comer,
we
had
to
walk
in
opposite
directions.
My
mind
wondered
for
a
moment
and
then
I
decided
to
go
on
helping
the
lady.
I
saw
a
warm
smile
of
gratefulness
on
her
face,
which
also
warmed
my
own
heart.
After
a
few
more
blocks
we
came
to
her
destination.
I
couldn't
imagine
her
walking
so
far
with
two
heavy
bags
all
alone!
I
walked
all
the
way
back
to
my
car
at
Firestone.
I
unlocked
my
door
and
sitting
between
the
seats
right
in
view
was
my
iPhone!

Most
of
us
spend
our
lives
seeking
the
natural
world.
We
go
fishing,
sit
in
the
garden,
have
a
picnic,
live
in
the
suburbs
or
go
to
the
seaside.
The
most
popular
leisure
activity
in
Britain
is
going
for
a
walk.
When
joggers
jog,
they
don’t
run
the
streets.
Every
one
of
them
tend
to
go
to
the
park
or
the
river.
But
despite
this,
our
children
are
growing
up
nature
deprived
.
I
spent
my
boyhood
climbing
trees.
These
days,
children
are
robbed
of
these
ancient
freedoms,
due
to
problems
like
crime,
traffic,
the
loss
of
the
open
spaces
and
strange
new
ideas
about
what
is
best
for
children,
that
is
to
say,
things
that
can
be
bought,
rather
than
things
that
can
be
found.
The
truth
is
to
be
found
elsewhere.
A
study
in
the
US:
families
had
moved
to
better
housing
and
the
children
were
assessed
for
ADHD—attention
deficit
hyperactivity
disorder
(多动症).
Those
whose
accommodation
had
more
natural
views
showed
an
improvement
of
19%;
those
who
had
the
same
improvement
in
material
surroundings
but
no
nice
view
improved
just
4%.
ADHD
is
one
of
the
great
problems
of
modern
childhood.
One
study
after
another
indicates
that
contact
with
nature
gives
huge
benefits
to
ADHD
children.
However,
we
spend
money
on
drugs
rather
than
on
green
places.
The
life
of
old
people
is
measurably
better
when
they
have
access
to
nature.
The
increasing
concern
for
the
growing
population
of
old
people
is
in
quality
rather
than
quantity
of
years.
And
study
after
study
finds
that
a
garden
is
the
single
most
important
thing
in
finding
that
quality.
Even
problems
with
crime
and
aggressive
behavior
are
reduced
when
there
is
contact
with
the
natural
world.
We
need
the
wild
world.
It
is
essential
to
our
well-being,
our
health
and
our
happiness.
28.
According
to
the
author,
people
enjoy
________
to
seek
nature.
A.
jogging
on
the
street
B.
sitting
in
the
garden
C.
shopping
in
the
supermarket
D.
running
in
the
gym
29.What
does
the
underlined
sentence“our
children
are
growing
up
nature
deprived”
means
A.
adults
rob
the
children
of
their
rights
to
approach
nature
B.
climbing
trees
will
certainly
do
good
to
the
children
C.
children
probably
spend
less
time
in
nature
nowadays
D.
children
tend
to
be
happier
as
a
result
of
their
material
satisfaction
30.In
what
way
do
people
benefit
from
their
contact
with
nature
A.
Children
with
ADHD
can
be
cured.
B.A
garden
nearby
improves
the
quality
of
old
people’s
life.
C.
Problems
with
crime
and
violent
behavior
will
easily
be
solved.
D.
Children’s
performance
at
school
is
greatly
improved.
31.
What
is
the
main
idea
of
this
passage
A.
Access
to
nature
improves
our
life.
B.
Nature
treats
children
with
ADHD.
C.
Getting
close
to
nature
reduces
crime.
D.
Man
can’t
live
without
natural
areas.
D
A
recent
survey
in
the
United
States
showed
that
the
average
family
spent
more
money
on
its
pets
than
on
its
children.
Although
rather
shocking,
it
should
not
surprise
anyone
who
has
seen
the
doggy
parlours
(客厅
)
where
loved
pets
rest.
Are
Americans
unique
in
treating
their
little
friends
in
this
way
No,
the
English,
too,
pay
more
attention
to
their
pets.
This
can
clearly
be
seen
when
we
look
at
pet
foods,
which
often
contain
more
vitamins
than
human
food.
They
certainly
cost
much.
Last
year
the
British
public
spent
two
hundred
million
pounds
on
pet
food
alone,
to
say
nothing
of
veterinary(兽医)
bills
or
animal
furniture.
It
is
difficult
not
to
feel
angry
about
this
when
considering
what
the
same
amount
could
do
for
victims
of
starvation
and
poverty,
so
it
is
not
unusual
for
me
to
get
hot
under
collar
when
I
read
an
old
man
left
all
his
money
to
his
dog
instead
of
his
children.
There
are
a
variety
of
reasons
why
I
find
pets-raising
alarming.
They
cause
physical
problems.
An
example
of
this
is
New
York
where
they
have
great
difficulty
getting
rid
of
the
mess
that
dogs
leave
on
the
streets.
Many
people
find
this
funny,
but
in
a
number
of
large
cities
it
is
a
major
problem.
Animals
can
cause
disease,
too.
It
is
the
threat
of
rabies
-
a
disease
with
no
known
cure.
Another
problem
is
the
carelessness
of
pet
owners.
Most
little
children
want
a
dog
or
a
cat,
and
they
continually
push
their
mothers
and
fathers
until
they
get
one.
It
is
only
when
the
"sweet
little
thing"
has
been
brought
home
that
the
parents
realize
how
much
time
and
money
must
be
spent
on
"Rover"
or
"Bonzo".
Then
they
just
abandon
it.
As
a
result,
they
are
allowed
to
run
free.
English
farmers
lose
hundreds
of
sheep
a
year,
killed
by
someone's
pet
and
you
must
have
read
of
children
being
hurt
by
some
pets
of
their
own.
Lastly,
I
would
only
suggest
that
we
have
got
our
priorities(优先)
wrong
and
that
something
should
be
done
about
it.
In
my
view,
it's
time
we
stopped
being
sentimental
about
pets.
I
can
see
no
reason
why
we
should
get
upset
when
animals
are
cut
up
for
medical
experiments.
This
will
lead
us
to
discovering
cures
for
serious
human
diseases,
then
I
say,
"keep
cutting!
"

It
is
necessary
but
difficult
for
English
beginners
to
memorize
new
words,
and
long
lists
of
words
seem
to
make
the
mission(任务)
impossible.
They
are
puzzled
why
they
try
to
memorize
words
with
great
efforts
but
forget
them
easily.
That's
why
there
are
often
inquiries
about
how

37
We
too
often
separate
the
process
of
new
words
memorization
from
pronunciation.
In
fact
these
two
can
be
combined
and
each
will
enhance
the
other.
Saying
the
word
to
ourselves
helps
activate
aural(hearing)
memory,
which
helps
the
memory._38
The
more
familiar
we
are
with
the
word,
the
greater
chance
we
will
have
to
keep
it
for
the
rest
of
our
life.
Never
memorize
single
English
words.
_39
Relate
the
word
to
terms
we
already
know,
either
as
synonym
or
antonym.
For
example,
the
word
"gargantuan"
is
similar
in
meaning
to
words
"gigantic”,
“huge"
and
"large".
Make
a
sequence
of
words:
"small,
medium,
large,
gigantic,
and
gargantuan".
Create
a
mental
image
of
the
word
that
involves
strong
emotions.
Think,
"The
gargantuan
whale
is
going
to
swallow
me
whole".
Learning
English
words
requires
action.
Complaining
how
difficult
it
is
to
memorize
new
words
will
be
of
little
help.
_40
Have
a
try
with
ten
words
a
day
and
you
will
see
what
a
difference
you
will
make
in
our
English
learning.
A.
So
take
action
right
now.
B.
Speak
the
word
while
memorizing
it.
C.
Memorizing
new
words
is
very
important.
D.
Actually,
some
have
given
up
learning
new
words.
E.
In
fact,
learning
new
words
needn't
be
that
difficult.
F.
Make
as
many
associations
and
connections
as
possible.
G.
The
sound
of
word
helps
us
recall
the
spelling
and
familiarizes
us
with
the
word.

英语知识运用(共两节,
满分45分)
第一节
完形填空(共20小题;每小题1.5分,
满分30分)
阅读下面短文,
从短文后各题所给四个选项(A、B、C和D)中,
选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项,
并在答题卡上将该项涂黑。
My
wife
and
I
moved
into
our
home
two
years
ago.
We
had
a
_41
with
a
lot
of
rocks.
Very
often
42
we
have
flowers,
Denise
or
I
would
plant
some
between
the
rocks,
just
to
add
some
color
to
the
area.
Last
summer,
I
found
a
tiny
little
43
in
the
yard
that
I
could
not
44
identify.
I
knew
I
didn't
plant
it
and
Denise
said
she
didn't
either.
We
decided
to
let
it
continue
growing
until
we
could
find
out
what
it
was.
Weeks
passed
and
as
I
made
my
way
back
to
the
45

it
appeared
to
be
a
sunflower.
I
decided
to
_46
the

around
it.
As
I
pulled
rocks
from
the
area
to
get
to
the
weeds,
I
noticed
something
47
.
The
sunflower
had
not
48
where
I
saw
it
begin.
It
actually
had
begun
under
a
big
49
and
grown
under
and
around
it
to
reach
the
_50
.
That's
when
I
_51
that
if
a
tiny
little
sunflower
didn't
let
a
big
rock
stand
in
its
_52
of
developing,
we
too
have
the
ability
of
doing
the
same
thing.
If
we
53
ourselves
like
that
little
sun
flower,
we
can
reach
where
we

to
go
and
get
what
we
need
for
growth.
We
need
to
believe
in
ourselves
knowing
we
have
the

to
achieve
our
goals.
Like
the
56
,it
knew
it
had
the
ability
to
get
over
the
rocks
because
it
had
57
in
itself
that
it
would
succeed.
Stand
tall
like
the

and

the

will
begin
to

us.
