Mr Black worked in a factory of a small town. He had been there for about twenty years before one day he was sent to the capital for important business. He was very happy because he had never been there before. When he started, he asked his wife and daughters if they wanted him to buy something for them in London. Mrs Black began to think it over and then she said she wished her husband would be able to buy a nice umbrella(伞) for her, and so did their three daughters. English names are made up of at least two parts: a first name and a last name. Many people in England are called William or Mary or John or Joy. These are their first names. But here was a time in England when there were no last names.
In a town, a father might have been called William, and a mother, Mary, William’s wife. A boy’s name might have been Fred, son of William. Dinner customs are different around the world. If you are a dinner guest in Ghana(加纳), this information will help you a lot.
In Ghana dinner is usually from 4 pm to 6 p.m. But there are no strict rules about time. Whenever a guest arrives, the family offer food.
