I
lived
in
China,
it
was
a
struggle
for
me
to
learn
Chinese
and
be
32
to
Chinese
customs.
When
I
first
went
to
school,
I
was
33
at
the
class
situation.
There
were
more
than
70
students
in
our
class;
34
,
the
classroom
was
very
small.
It
was
a
big

I

anything

I
just
sat

I
cried
and
told
my

that
I
wanted
to
go
back

My

me.

I
made
up
my
41
to
study
Chinese
very
hard,
but
it
was
very
difficult
to
learn
the
language
42
.
Every
day
at
school,
I
tried
to
talk
with
the
Chinese
students
and
43
friends
with
them.
When
school
was
over,
I
44
most
of
my
spare
time
to
learning
Chinese
using
elementary
school
books.
That

be
a
very
effective
way
to
learn
Chinese.
Little
by
little,
I
began
to
speak
Chinese
in
school.

I
could

I

of

a
very
high
grade
in
the
Chinese
exam
and
naturally
I
began
to

about
the
Chinese
customs.
Now,
I
like
to
talk
with
Chinese
students
and
I
like
Chinese

I
learned

四、阅读理解(共10小题;每小题2分,满分20分)
阅读下列短文,从短文后各题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中,选出最佳选项,并在答题卡上将该项涂黑。
A
Two
people
are
walking
towards
each
other
along
a
narrow
pavement
---
who
gives
way
If
it
is
you,
you
fall
into
the
25
percent
of
people
who
prefer
to
step
aside.
Another
25
percent
like
to
pass
first,
making
the
other
person
stand
to
one
side.
The
remaining
50
percent
make
up
the
third
type
of
pedestrian(行人)
and
vary(变化)
their
strategy.
The
findings
come
from
study
in
which
researchers
from
the
Technical
University
of
Munich
paired
up
(组成对)20
strangers
and
asked
them
to
walk
towards
each
other
without
colliding(碰撞)
and
without
speaking.
The
volunteers
also
filled
in
personality
questionnaires(个性问卷)
and
were
measured
and
weighed.
Interestingly,
physical
factors
such
as
age,
height
and
gender(性别)
seemed
to
have
nothing
to
do
with
pavement
etiquette(礼仪).
Nor
did
qualities
such
as
extraversion(外向性)
or
shyness,
the
Journal
of
Experimental
Psychology
reports.
In
other
words,
some
of
us
seem
to
be
simply
born
to
push
past(从......身边挤过).
A
second
experiment
showed
that
the
person
who
passes
first
isn’t
as
rude
as
they
may
firstly
appear.
It
seems
they
do
tend
to
adjust(调整)
their
path
---
just
not
enough
to
avoid
a
collision(碰撞).
As
a
result,
it
is
only
when
the
second
person
moves
out
of
the
way
that
the
problem
is
solved.
Etiquette
expert
William
Hanson
said
that
the
custom
of
men
walking
on
the
outside
of
the
pavement
to
protect
women
from
traffic
and
other
dangers
has
fallen
by
the
wayside.
Mr
Hanson
said:
“Traditionally,
men
let
the
woman
they
were
travelling
along
with
walk
closest
to
the
building,
away
from
the
pavement
edge.”
How
to
avoid
that
embarrassing
'pavement
dance'
The
German
study
doesn’t
solve
what
to
do
in
the
common
but
embarrassing
situation,
in
which
both
pedestrians
repeatedly
avoid
out
of
each
other’s
way
in
the
same
direction,
giving
the
impression
of
dancing
together
on
the
pavement.
But
Mr
Hanson
said:
“I
tend
to
pick
a
side
of
the
pavement,
stick
to
it,
and
politely
gesture
to
the
empty
space
for
the
stranger
to
use.”
51.
It
can
be
learned
from
the
two
experiments
that
_____.
A.
about
half
of
the
people
try
to
think
of
other
ways
B.
pavement
etiquette
has
much
to
do
with
personalities
C.
a
quarter
of
people
are
too
rude
to
give
way
D.
a
collision
is
unavoidable
when
two
walk
to
each
other
52.
The
writer
uses
the
question
at
the
beginning
to
_____.
A.
test
the
readers’
knowledge
about
pavement
etiquette
B.
draw
the
readers’
attention
to
the
topic
C.
show
the
importance
of
giving
way
D.
invite
the
readers
to
answer
the
question
53.
Which
of
following
might
Mr.
Hanson
agree
with
A.
Men
tend
to
be
more
considerate
to
women
than
before.
B.
It’s
men’s
duty
to
protect
women
from
traffic
dangers.
C.
It
is
embarrassing
to
dance
together
on
the
pavement.
D.
Sticking
to
one
side
can
help
avoid
pavement
dance.
B
When
young
people
begin
to
live
independently,
home-hunting
can
be
difficult.
But
they
would
do
well
to
remember
that
a
new
choice
is
available
---
micro-homes.
Fondly(天真地)
called
“tiny
houses,”
these
houses
have
all
living
necessities
in
a
small
package,
including
kitchen,
bedroom
and
bathroom.
Generally
under
50
square
meters,
most
tiny
houses
can
hold
just
one
or
two
persons
though
some
claim(声称)
the
space
for
more.
What’s
lost
in
size
is
not
lost
in
design(设计)
as
these
homes
are
often
quite
modern
in
design.
Besides
an
attractive
appearance,
tiny
houses
can
also
have
practical
features(特点).
Making
the
best
of
urban(都市的)
space,
the
72-to-122-centimeter-wide
Keret
House
in
Warsaw,
the
world’s
narrowest
home,
filled
in
an
alley(小巷).
The
home
Ecocapsule
uses
solar
power,
wind
power
and
rainwater
collection
to
enable
its
owner
to
live
practically
anywhere.
Although
micro-homes
are
attractive,
there
are
a
few
disadvantages
to
consider
before
getting
comfortable
on
a
minicouch.
Moving
into
a
tiny
house,
you
should
throw
away
unnecessary
things.
It
is
also
mostly
impossible
to
invite
guests.
And
finally,
a
micro-home
is
likely
a
temporary(暂时的)
living
choice
for
most
people
since
they
will
probably
start
families
and
own
more
things.
Though
the
limitation
will
scare
some,
there
is
usually
a
benefit.
A
small
size
results
in
low
prices
and
small
bills,
making
tiny
houses
easier
to
save
up
for.
And
though
you
won’t
have
many
things
around
the
house,
it
makes
it
easy
and
simple
to
keep
it
clean.
Micro-homes
are
also
eco-friendly,
which
can’t
be
matched
by
other
homes.
They
probably
aren’t
for
everyone
or
forever,
but
when
it
comes
to
your
next
(or
first)
home,
they
could
be
just
what
you
need.
54.
Micro-homes
are
especially
suitable
for
_____.
A.
a
young
person
who
has
many
things
B.
a
person
who
doesn’t
have
much
money
C.
a
couple
who
want
to
protect
environment
D.
a
family
hoping
to
settle
down
in
a
city

_____.
A.
by
examples
B.
by
comparisons
C.
by
order
in
space
D.
by
causes
and
effects
56.
What
can
be
learned
about
micro-homes
from
Paragraph
2
A.
People
can’t
take
a
package
into
the
tiny
houses.
B.
All
of
the
houses
can
hold
more
than
two
people.
C.
These
houses
are
convenient
though
tiny
in
size.
D.
Such
houses
are
poorly
designed
due
to
the
small
size.
57.
What
can
be
the
best
title
for
the
text
A.
East
or
west,
home
is
the
best.
B.
Micro-homes
---
more
than
tiny!
C.
Home-hunting
---
no
easy
matter!
D.
Tiny
or
large,
this
is
a
choice.
C
Of
course,
she
wasn’t
really
my
aunt
and,
out
of
fear,
I
never
called
her
that
to
her
face.
I
only
referred
to
her
as
“My
Aunt
Fannie”
because
the
name
always
made
my
father
laugh
quietly
and
gave
my
mother
cause
to
look
strictly
at
both
of
us---at
me
for
being
disrespectful
of
my
elder
and
at
my
father
for
encouraging
my
bad
behavior.
I
enjoyed
both
reactions(反应)
so
I
looked
for
every
opportunity
to
work
the
name
into
as
many
conversations
as
possible.
As
a
young
woman,
my
mother
had
worked
in
the
kitchen
of
a
large
Victorian
farmhouse.
During
those
years
my
mother
helped
Aunt
Fanny
make
the
best
blueberry
jam(蓝莓酱)
ever
tasted
by
anyone
in
Glenfield.
She
was
well-known
for
her
jam
and
for
never
sharing
the
recipe
(秘方,配方)with
others.
Even
though
my
mother
knew
the
recipe
by
heart,
as
long
as
Aunt
Fannie
was
alive,
she
never
made
the
jam
without
Aunt
Fannie
in
our
kitchen
to
direst
the
process
and
preserve
the
secret.
Each
August,
my
mother
would
prepare
me
for
Aunt
Fannie’s
visit.
One
year,
after
I
had
helped
with
the
jam
process
Aunt
Fannie
gave
me
a
coin
and
then
made
me
promise
that
I
would
never
spend
it.
“Hold
onto
this
coin,”
she
said,
“and
someday
you
will
be
rich.
I
still
have
my
very
first
coin,
given
to
me
by
my
grandmother.”
So
I
kept
the
coin
in
a
small
box
and
waited
to
become
rich.
I
now
have
the
blueberry
jam
recipe
and
the
coin

The
most
wonderful
experience
I've
ever
had
was
a
trip
I
took
to
China
a
few
years
ago.
I
really
can't
describe
it.
We
spent
three
weeks
traveling
around
China.
We
visited
Beijing;
Shanghai,
Xi'an
and
several
other
places.
It
really
was
the
most
unusual
holiday
I've
ever
had.
You
know,
the
further
we
traveled
into
the
center
of
China,
the
more
I
liked
it,
meeting
people
who'd
never
seen
foreign
tourists
before.
Then
we
spend
our
last
week
in
Hong
Kong,
which
I
think
is
very
different
from
Beijing.
It's
the
noisiest
and
busiest
place
I've
ever
seen.
We
didn't
find
Hong
Kong
very
relaxing
at
all.
And
the
other
problem
was
the
people
on
tour
with
us---they
were
so
unfriendly.
Anyway,
the
trip
itself
was
interesting.
I
can't
wait
to
do
it
again!
