Unit 7 Birthday party
【Let’s talk】
Language focus:
1. Using formulaic expressions to wish others a happy birthday. E.g. Happy birthday, Sam.
2. Using nouns to indicate food and drinks. E.g. Cake, cake.
3. Speaking: Use modeled phrases to communicate with other learners.
Materials:
1. Wall charts 1B
2. Photos of a student’s birthday party.
3. Some food and presents.
Teaching ladders:
Ⅰ. Warming up
1. Greeting
2. Train!
Take your present Open your present Say “thank you”
Ⅱ. Pre-task preparation
Show photos of a student’s birthday party.
T: Look, XX is happy because it is his birthday. Your birthday is the day you were born. Birthday comes only once a year. My birthday is in (month). When is your birthday (Ask several students to answer.)T: birthday Follow me!
Ⅲ. While-task procedure
1. Put up the wall charts. (for 30 seconds) Take it down
T: What do you see (apple orange, present)
2. T: (Put the wall chart up)
Sam has many present. They have many foods.
3. Introduce the items “cake” “ice-cream” “jelly” “sweet” “milk” and “coke” orally only in this lesson. To introduce “ice-cream” you can ask what other sweet things you can eat at birthdays.
4. T: (Point to the words) Happy birthday Sam.
5. T: Listen to the tape.
Ⅳ. Post-task activities
1. Bring some food and presents to class and put them on a table.
Ask some students to sit at the table.
2. Point to one of the students sitting at the table.
T: Today is Sam’s birthday. What should we say to him them

1. Put up the cards
T: Read it one by one

2. Hold up an apple, look at it and lick your lips.

1. Put all the fond and drink picture cards on yours desk.

2. Review step1 with the other items.
3. Stick the paper cut-out of May on the board.

4. Continue telling the story by using other paper cut-outs of characters and food item.

5. Turn to page 15 T: Listen to the tape

1. In group of five, students practise acting out the story.

2. Select group to act heir role-plays to the class.

Then sing the song for the class with some actions.

教学随感: 本堂课针对低年级学生进行教学,结合了学生喜欢的”生日派对”的话题来学习各种食物。教学氛围活泼有趣,学生学习兴趣高,师生关系融洽。教师教态自然活泼,单词、句型操练到位,在教学过程中利用自己编写的小诗进行教学,对于低年级的学生来说能够达到较好的学习效果。但在一些环节的设计上,可再多变、自然一些,最后表格环节的设计对于低年级来讲似乎有些难度,可稍作调整。
