Unit 1 What's this in English
Lesson 4
Good morning, everyone!
I’m very glad to stand here to talk about《Fun With English》Book2, Unit1 What’s this in English Lesson4.This lesson is the forth lesson of Unit1, so the students must learn it well, to get ready for the other lessons.
Teaching content
In this lesson, I will teach 2 parts: Learn to Say and Look, Listen and Say. Students will learn three words: “pig\lion\cow and one sentence: What’s this\that in English ”
Teaching target:
The students are in Grade 3. Our boys and girls are exposed to English for the first time, so it is very important to develop their keen interest in English.
Teaching aims
1. Aims on the knowledge
Learn to speak and try to use: “What’s this\that in English ” Make sure that Ss can use these sentences to ask.
To teach students read and use three words “pig\lion\cow.”
Learn to sing the song “What is this in English ” 
2. Aims on the abilities
Develop Ss’ abilities of listening and speaking.
3. Aims on the emotion
To train the Ss’ ability of working in groups. 
Important points
To help the students use “What’s this\that in English ” and make sure they can use it to ask.
Difficult points
Learn to pronounce the words “English \ pig \lion\cow.”
Key-points of this lesson
Develop Ss’ interest in English.
Teaching methods
In this lesson I’ll mainly use “Task-based” teaching method. That is to say, I will let the Ss learn in real situations, help the Ss to get a better understanding of the dialogue and words .And I also use creative situation\ TPR\ to study and pratice the words and sentences.
Learning methods
In this class, the student through the discovery study, the cooperation study to learn the new knowledge.
Teaching tools
In this lesson a recorder\cards\pictures\animals’ toys will be needed. Students should prepare some animals’ toys to get ready for the new lesson.
Teaching designing
I’ll finish this lesson in five steps:
Warm up----Presentation-----Practice-----Consolidation---- Sum up
Step1. Warm-up
1. Free talk: I say “Hello! Boys and girls. \Nice to see you again......to greet with students.
2. Sing the song together: “Lovely Animals” (Sing a song
I sing this song and act with student. Let them very happy.
3. Do some TPR, for example: Act like panda….
4. Use CAI to lead out “Lesson4” (In the computer, you can see four fish are swimming. So I ask “How many fish is swimming ” to lead out number “4” and lesson 4(write on the blackboard) 
Purpose: Use PPT to creative situation, make students like study English.
Step2. Presentation
Words
All the students love the animals. So I lead out three words: pig \lion\cow (In the compute you can see: three animals are playing in the forest. Then I ask what this in English ” Teacher point the words, it can pronounce)
Then let students read after the tap and look at the book and listen to the tape .Next let students read in groups \line by line \row by row \one by one.
Drills
Teacher use CAI to lead out dialogue. Let students know the means of “What’s this\that in English “Then listen to the tape to get the means of this dialogue. And look at the book read loudly. (Purpose: Teach new words use CAI flash to make students like to study and feel it very easy.)
Practice
1. In order to let student remember the words, using in threes, in pairs, in row, in group different ways to practice the words "pig \lion\cow" What’s this\that in English Pronunciation
(So that to improve the ability of the students to use English.)
2. TPR activities.
I first ask the students to listen carefully and look at me to guess its meaning, and then follow the CAI to do the movements, "Act like a pig\ a lion \ a cow"
(To train students’ ability to act and remember)
Consolidation
The students like acting. So I let them to act with their animals’ toys. For example: A boy holds a monkey toy and asks: “Hi, Liming. What’s this in English “.. Let them practice in groups first, and then act in class.
(From this content, the real exercise of the students to use the language)
Sum up
In this step, I take out the knowledge bag, with the music let student pass the bag. When the music stops, the student hold the bag will answer the question. If he is right, I will give a present for him.
(This game makes students very happy, and can remember the important things easily)
Homework:
Let the students read three words to the parents. Let them play the act game.
(Let students use English in life)
