A
What
would
it
be
like
to
live
on
Mars
Volunteers
are
spending
eight
months
in
an
area
that
looks
much
like
the
surface
of
Mars.
They
are
isolated(孤立)high
on
top
of
Mauna
Loa,
a
volcanic
mountain
on
the
Big
Island
of
Hawaii,
living
on
a
simulated(模仿的)or
make-believe,
Mars
Base.
The
project
called
HI-SEAS
is
in
the
charge
of
Kim
Binsted.
She
says
this
wild
environment
is
as
close
to
Mars
as
you
can
find
on
Earth.
Because
it
is
so
high,
the
land
is
not
warm
or
rich
with
plants,
like
the
rest
of
Hawaii.
"You
will
see
there
is
really
no
visible
plant
life
or
animal
life.
And
you
have
got
this
wonderful
volcanic
material."
Mauna
Loa,2,500
meters
above
sea
level,
is
geologically
very
similar
to
Olympus
Mons
on
Mars
and
almost
as
tall
as
that
Martian
mountain.
When
measured
from
its
base,
deep
in
the
ocean,
Mauna
Loa
is
the
second
largest
mountain
in
our
solar
system,
after
the
one
on
Mars.
The
six
member
HI-SEAS
crew
is
mostly
self-sufficient.
Food
and
supplies
are
brought
to
them.
But
the
individuals
bringing
those
supplies
cannot
communicate
with
volunteers
inside
the
habitat
or
base.
Kim
Binsted
says
this
experiment
looks
at
how
the
astronauts
get
along
with
each
other."We
study
how
well
they
work
together,
how
we
can
keep
them
happy
and
supported,
and
not
wanting
to
kill
each
other
over
these
long
durations(期间)."
Crew
members
communicate
with
the
outside
world
through
e-mail
and
blogs.
They
also
produce
video
on
the
YouTube
website,
like
this
one
from
mission
commander
Martha
Lenio.
"I
am
really
enjoying
this
opportunity
to
live
here
and
pretend
that
I'm
on
Mars
and
get
to
learn
all
sorts
of
new
skills."
One
of
them
said.
Whoever
gets
there
first,
the
trip
will
not
be
easy,
says
Kim
Binsted.
"It
is
going
to
be
challenging."

largest
mountain
on
the

Unlike
most
other
holidays,
the
history
of
April
Fools’
Day,
sometimes
called
All
Fools’
Day,
is
not
totally
clear.
The
only
point
in
time
that
can
be
agreed
on
as
the
beginning
of
this
tradition
was
1582,
in
France.
Before
that
year,
the
New
Year
was
celebrated
for
eight
days,
beginning
on
March
25.
The
celebration
reached
the
highest
point
on
April
l.
With
the
reform
of
the
calendar
under
Charles
IX,
the
Gregorian
calendar
(公历,阳历)
was
introduced,
and
New
Year’s
Day
was
moved
to
January
1.
However,
because
in
those
days
communications
were
not
as
developed
as
they
are
today,
many
people
did
not
receive
the
news
for
several
years.
Some
people
refused
to
accept
the
new
calendar
and
continued
to
celebrate
the
New
Year
on
April
1.
These
backward
people
were
considered
“fools”
by
other
people.
They
were
often
sent
on
“fools”
errands
(徒劳无益的工作)
or
were
made
the
targets
of
jokes.
This
developed,
over
time,
into
a
tradition
of
playing
a
trick
on
someone
on
the
first
day
of
April.
The
tradition
eventually
spread
to
England
and
Scotland
in
the
eighteenth
century.
It
was
later
introduced
to
the
American
colonies
of
both
the
Britain
and
France.
April
Fools’
Day
thus
developed
into
an
international
fun
feast,
so
to
speak,
with
different
nationalities
specializing
in
their
own
kind
of
humor
at
the
expense
of
their
friends
and
families.
24.

calendar,

day
was
New
Year’s
Day

to
in
France

March

January
1.
C.
April
1.
D.
April
3.
25.
Which
of
the
following
first
had
the
tradition

Fools’
Day
A.
France.

Scotland.
D.
America.
26.
What
was
people’s
attitude
towards
the
new
calendar
A.
They
accepted
it
happily.
B.
They
refused
it
immediately.
C.
Some
recognized
it.
D.
Some
laughed
at
it.
27.
What
does
the
passage
want
to
tell
us
A.
What
the
French
did
on
April
Fools
Day.
B.
How
April
Fools’
Day
come
into
being.
C.
When
was
the
new
calendar
introduced.

C
Many
years
ago,
on
a
winter
morning,
Lily,
our
only
daughter,
sat
quietly,
all
her
heart
put
into
her
work.
Every
once
in
a
while
she
would
ask
how
to
spell
the
name
of
someone
in
our
family,
and
then
painstakingly(费力地)
formed
the
letters
one
by
one.
Next,
she
added
flowers
and
green
grass
at
the
bottom
of
each
page
with
a
sun
in
the
upper
right
corner,
surrounded
by
the
blue
sky.
Holding
them
at
eye
level,
she
was
satisfied.
“What
are
you
making,
honey ”
I
asked.
“It’s
a
surprise,”
she
said,
covering
up
her
work
with
her
hands.
It
wasn’t
until
later
that
evening
that
I
noticed
the
“mailboxes”
fastened
to
the
door
of
each
of
our
bedrooms.
There
was
one
for
Edward,
one
for
Tom.
She
hadn’t
forgotten
Peter
and
baby
Paul.
For
the
next
few
weeks,
we
received
mail
regularly.
There
were
little
notes
showing
her
love
for
each
of
us
and
short
letters
full
of
tiny
things
that
only
a
seven-year-old
child
would
notice.
I
was
in
charge
of
retrieving(取回)
baby
Paul’s
letters,
page
after
page
of
colored
scenes,
including
flowers
with
happy
faces.
“He
can’t
read
yet,”
she
said,
“but
he
can
look
at
the
pictures.”
This
little
girl
grows
up
now,
but
something
about
her
has
never
changed.
One
morning
only
a
week
or
so
ago,
I
found
a
love
note
next
to
my
pillow.
“Thanks
for
always
being
there
for
me,
Mum,”
it
read,
“I’m
glad
that
we
are
best
friends,”
I
couldn’t
help
but
remember
that
she
has
brought
me
countless
hours
of
joy
throughout
these
years.
There
are
angels
among
us.
I
know,
I
live
with
one.
28.
What
was
Lily
busy
doing
that
afternoon
A.
Playing
a
spelling
game.

Examining
her
work
carefully.
C.
Doing
her
drawing
homework
D.
Preparing
love
notes
for
the
family
29.
Every
time
the
writer
received
her
daughter’s
mail,
she
felt___.
A.
surprised
B.
happy
C.
proud
D.
interested
30.
The
underlined
words
“something
about
her”
in
Paragraph
7
mean__.
A.
her
habit
of
writing
letters
to
her
friends

interest

did
the
author
write
the

A.
To
draw
people’s
attention
to
her

B.
To
tell

her
daughter’s

C.

the
true
love

daughter,

Some
people
surveyed
tasted
the
sweet,
salty,
and
crunchy(脆的)
together
with
other
tastes
of
food
as
they
listen
to
different
noises.
It
shows
that
louder
noises
reduced
the
reported
sweetness
or
saltiness
of
food
while
increasing
the
measure
of
crunchiness(松脆).
It
may
go
some
way
to
explain
why
airline
food
is
widely
complained
about
by
both
the
workers
and
passengers.
Andy
Woods,
a
researcher,
said,
“It’s
a
general
opinion
that
plane
foods
aren’t
fantastic
but
I’m
sure
airlines
do
their
best,
so
we
wondered
if
there
were
other
reasons.
One
thought
was
that
perhaps
the
background
noise
may
have
an
effect.
NASA
gives
their
space
explorers
very
strong-tasting
foods,
because
for
some
reason,
they
can’t
taste
food
that
strongly-again,
it
may
have
something
to
do
with
the
background
noise.”
In
a
study,
48
people
were
fed
sweet
foods
or
salty
ones,
while
listening
to
nothing
or
noise
through
earphones.
Meanwhile
they
rated
(划分等级)
the
foods.
In
noisier
settings,
foods
were
rated
less
salty
or
sweet
than
they
were
when
it
was
silent,
but
were
rated
crunchier.
“The
evidence
shows
that
if
the
background
noise
is
loud,
your
attention
might
be
drawn
to
that,
away
from
the
food.”
Dr.
Woods
said.
“We
are
still
at
an
early
stage
of
progressing
and
this
is
rather
small
study
to
really
draw
definitive
(最完整可靠的)conclusions
from,”
Dr
Woods
said,
“but
they
suggest
choice
of
food
for
a
given
environment.”
Also
in
the
group’s
findings
there
is
the
suggestion
that
the
overall
satisfaction
with
the
food
is
also
related
to
the
degree
to
which
people
like
what
they
are
hearing.
32.
How
does
the
food
taste
when
it
is
eaten
in
a
noisy
environment
A.
Less
salty
but
crunchier.
B.
Sweeter
and
saltier.
C.
Sweeter
but
less
crunchy.
D.
Less
sweet
and
crunchy.
33.
Why
does
NASA
give
their
space
explorers
very
strong-tasting
foods
A.
Foods
become
less
tasty
in
space.
B.
The
explorers
lose
their
sense
of
taste
in
space.
C.
Loud
noises
in
space
may
weaken
the
explorers’
sense
of
taste.
D.
The
explorers
need
tastier
foods
to
keep
energetic
in
space.
34.
What
can
we
infer
from
what
Dr.
Woods
said
in
the
4th
paragraph
A.
The
environment
influences
the
food
a
restaurant
sells.
B.
The
researchers
have
made
an
effective
conclusion.
C.
Music
will
weaken
people’s
sense
of
taste
while
eating.
D.
Listening
to
nothing
while
eating
is
the
best
choice.
35.
What
would
be
the
best
title
for
the
text
A.
The
best
dinner
environment.
B.
How
to
change
plane
foods.
C.
Listening
to
music
while

Many
people

think
they
are

But
in
fact,
these

not
healthy.
That
we

most
is
a
balanced

Eating
a
balanced
diet
mean
choosing
a
wide
variety
of
foods
from
all
the

groups.
A
balanced
diet
provides
different
kinds
of
nutrition(营养)

We
need
a
balanced
diet
to
keep
healthy.
Therefore,
many
people
still
have
unhealthy
eating
habits,
that
will
do
harm
to
their
health.
I
think
is
necessary
for
us
to
have
three
meals
a
day
properly.
When
eat,
we
should
eat
different
kinks
of
foods.
For
an
example,
we
should
eat
both
meat
and
vegetables
to
get
different
kinds
of

All
in

it’s
importantly
for
us
to
keep
a
balanced

第二节
书面表达(25分)
三、One
Possible
Version
Nowadays,
it
is
becoming
common
to
lead
a
low-carbon
lifestyle.
We
know
that
carbon
dioxide
is
the
major
greenhouse
gas
that
causes
global
warming.
By
living
a
low-carbon
life,
we
can
cut
carbon
dioxide
emissions,
which
may
contribute
to
stopping
the
temperature
from
rising.
There
are
many
ways
of
leading
an
environmentally
friendly
life.
For
instance,
we
can
turn
off
electrical
appliances
like
lights,
the
television
and
the
computer
when
we
aren’t
using
them.
Cars
not
only
cause
serious
air
pollution
but
also
waste
energy,
so
we
could
walk
or
ride
a
bicycle
for
short
trips.
If
we
need
to
travel
a
long
distance
we
can
take
public
transportation.
It
is
also
wise
to
use
reusable
cloth
bags
and
not
disposable
plastic
bags
when
we
shop.
I
believe
that
as
long
as
each
of
us
makes
a
small
change
to
cut
carbon
emissions,
we
can
make
a
big
difference
and
develop
a
harmonious
relationship
with
the
environment.

(第19题为推断题)
Hi,
Raman.
It’s
Christine.
I’m
afraid
I
won’t
be
in
today.
My
son
isn’t
feeling
well.
(17)
He
has
a
bad
cough
and
he’s
home
from
school.
I’ve
got
to
take
him
to
the
doctor.
But
do
you
remember
the
training
next
week
You
know,
the
one
about
the
new
computer
system
I’ve
explained
everything
to
the
trainer,
so
there’s
no
need
to
call
him.
I’ve
also
booked
the
meeting
room
on
the
third
floor.
But
there
are
a
few
other
things.
I
need
you
to
put
out
some
notebooks
and
pens
for
people
to
take
notes
with.
And
you’ll
need
to
order
lunch
for
ten
people.
(18)
Talk
to
Alison,
my
secretary.
She
knows
some
good
restaurants
we
can
order
from.
She
has
the
telephone
numbers.
You
can
ask
her
to
help
you
with
it.
You
can
also
order
lunch
from
a
coffee
shop
if
you
want.
I’m
really
sorry
to
leave
all
these
things
to
you
on
a
phone
message.
If
you
have
any
problems,
call
me
anytime.
(20)
Bye
for
now.
