第一节(共15小题;每小题2分,满分30分)
阅读下列短文,从每题所给的四个选项(A、B、C、和D)中,选出最佳选项,并在答题卡上将该项涂黑。
A
John
Glenn,
the
first
American
astronaut
to
orbit
the
earth,
learned
how
to
fly
while
attending
college
in
1939.
During
the
day
he
studied
chemistry,
and
in
his
spare
time,
he
took
flying
lessons.
Shortly
after
the
1941
attack
on
Pearl
Harbor,
he
left
college
to
join
the
Marines,
flying
fighter
planes
in
the
Pacific
theater
during
the
Second
World
War,
and
later
in
the
Korean
conflict.In
1959,
the
newly-formed
National
Aeronautics
and
Space
Administration,
or
NASA,
put
out
a
call
for
test
pilots.
Of
the
508
competitors,
seven
men,
including
John
Glenn,
were
chosen
for
astronaut
training.
These
were
the
Mercury(水星)
7,
America’s
space
pioneers.
John
Glenn
did
not
get
his
wish
of
becoming
the
first
man
in
space,
but
he
did
become
the
first
American
in
deep
space,
orbiting
the
earth
three
times
on
February
20th,
1962.
At
the
time,
few
members
of
the
public
realized
the
dangers
involved
in
space
flight.
“The
risks
were
extremely
high,”
said
then-
NASA
Flight
Director
Gene
Krantz.
“And
you
know,
when
we
put
John
Glenn
on
board
a
rocket,
he
was
flying
the
6th
Atlas
and
2
of
the
previous
5
had
blown
up.”
Discouraged
by
lack
of
flight
assignments
in
the
Apollo
moonshot
program,
John
Glenn
left
NASA
in
1964.
For
the
next
decade,
he
worked
in
the
private
apartment.
Eventually,
he
ran
for
the
U.S.
Senate
(
参议院)and,
after
two
failed
attempts,
won
a
seat
in
1974.
He
would
represent
Ohio
for
24
years.
And
just
before
he
ended
his
political
career,
at
the
age
of
77,
he
became
the
oldest
person
to
fly
in
space
as
a
member
of
the
Discovery
space
shuttle.
The
last
of
America’s
first
astronauts
has
left
us
on
December
8
at
the
age
of
95,
but
motivated
by
their
example,
we
know
that
our
future
here
on
Earth
drives
us
to
keep
reaching
for
the
heavens.”

is
organized
in
the
order
of
________.
A.
frequency
B.
importance
C.
time
D.
preference
22.
John
Glenn
quit
NASA
because
_________.
A.
his
wish
failed.
B.
he
showed
interest
in
politics.
C.
he
had
no
flight
task
to
accomplish
D.
he
was
too
old
to
keep
on
in
space.
23.
From
what
Gene
Krantz
said,
we
know
John
Glenn
was
________.
A.
brave
B.
aggressive
C.
fragile
D.
dangerous
B
It’s
holiday
season
and
time
for
shopping.
There
are
a
bunch
of
items
on
your
shopping
lists
ranging
from
small
gifts,
toys
and
festive
decorations
to
Christmas
and
New
Year
cards.
What’s
your
first
reaction
to
products
labeled
“Made
in
China.”
If
you
still
tend
to
relate
“Made
in
China”
to
poor
quality,
you
need
to
update
your
ideas.
China’s
ability
to
produce
high-quality
products
has
been
recognized
by
a
growing
number
of
foreigners.
It’s
a
misunderstanding
to
associate
low
quality
with
“Made
in
China”.
Cameron
Purdy,
a
Web
user,
says
that
just
because
China
manufactures
poor-quality
products
does
not
mean
it
cannot
manufacture
high-quality
products.
He
explains
that
the
poor-quality
products
one
purchases
in
the
US
for
example,
are
made
in
the
quality
that
the
American
companies
ask
for.
“The
price
that
you
pay
for
the
product
has
no
relationship
to
the
cost
of
its
manufacturing,”
suggested
Purdy.
For
example,
for
an
item
priced
at
$20
in
the
US,
the
cost
of
manufacturing
it
paid
by
the
American
company
is
usually
less
than
$1.
To
guarantee
the
room
for
profit(利润),
the
Chinese
co-manufacturer
spends
less
than
$1
to
produce
the
item.Amanda
Wu,
who
lives
in
Shanghai,
noted
that
many
top
brands
have
manufacturing
factories
located
in
China,
and
the
most
convincing
example
of
China’s
manufacturing
quality
is
Apple
products.
On
the
back
of
the
iPhone,
one
can
find
the
product
is
Made
in
China

“Designed
by
Apple
in
California.
Assembled
(装备)in
China.”
Chinese
and
foreign
Web
users
commented
that
some
Chinese
products
with
good
reputations
around
the
world
are
Haier,
Lenovo,
GREE,
Huawei
and
China
Railway
High-speed.
On
the
other
hand,
foreign
misunderstandings
can
sometimes
affect
Chinese
people’s
minds.
For
instance,
when
Chinese
people
travel
abroad,
some
would
still
avoid
buying
products
Made
in
China.
It’s
time
for
the
world
to
stop
relating
Made
in
China
with
low-quality
products.
Just
remember,
you
get
what
you
pay
for.
How
does
Purdy
make
his
point
more
convincing
A.
By
using
quotes.
B.
By
making
experiments.
C.
By
making
comparisons.
D.
By
giving
examples.
How
many
Chinese
products
are
well
received
worldwide
in
the
text
Seven.
B.
Six
C.
Five.
D.
Four.
When
abroad,
Chinese
people
don’t
buy
Chinese
products
because
of
________.
High
price
Low
quality
Old
fashions
Foreign
misunderstandings
What
is
the
main
idea
of
the
text
Chinese
products
are
the
best
in
the
world.
How
to
tell
apart
the
quality
of
Chinese
products.
How
to
improve
the
quality
of
Chinese
products.
Chinese
products
don't
have
to
mean
poor
quality.
C
I
really
love
my
job
because
I
enjoy
working
with
small
children
and
like
the
challenges
and
awards
from
the
job.
I
also
think
my
work
is
important.
There
was
a
time
when
I
thought
I
would
never
have
that
sort
of
career.
I
wasn’t
an
excellent
student
because
I
didn’t
do
much
schoolwork.
In
my
final
term
I
started
thinking
what
I
might
do
and
found
I
didn’t
have
much
to
offer.
I
just
accepted
that
I
wasn’t
the
type
to
have
a
career.
I
then
found
myself
a
job

looking
after
two
little
girls.
It
wasn’t
too
bad
at
first.
But
the
problems
began
when
I
agreed
to
live
in
so
that
I
would
be
there
if
my
boss
had
to
go
out
for
business
in
the
evening.
We
agreed
that
if
I
had
to
work
extra
hours
one
week,
she’d
give
me
time
off
the
next.
But
unfortunately,
it
didn’t
often
work
out.
I
was
getting
extremely
tired
and
fed
up,
because
I
had
too
many
late
nights
and
early
mornings
with
the
children.
One
Sunday,
I
was
in
the
park
with
the
children,
and
met
Megan
who
used
to
go
to
school
with
me.
I
told
her
about
my
situation.
She
suggested
that
I
should
do
a
course
and
get
a
qualification
if
I
wanted
to
work
with
children.
I
didn’t
think
I
would
be
accepted
because
I
didn’t
take
many
exams
in
school.
She
persuaded
me
to
phone
the
local
college
and
they
were
really
helpful.
My
experience
counted
for
a
lot
and
I
got
on
a
part-time
course.
I
had
to
leave
my
job
with
the
family,
and
got
work
helping
out
at
a
kindergarten.
Now
I’ve
got
a
full-time
job
there.
I
shall
always
be
thankful
to
Megan.
I
wish
I
had
known
earlier
that
you
could
have
a
career,
even
if
you
aren’t
top
of
the
class
at
school.

DVirtual
reality,
VR,
is
a
powerful,
new
technology.
VR
software

are
being
used
in
many
video
games.
But
others
have
been
developed
for
education,
to
train
doctors
and

VR

an

They

where
people
can
learn
about
virtual

and
create
and

it.
In
the

“Cityscape

players
must

“It’s

says
that
is
what

introduced.
The
pair
is
allowed
to
settle
down
in
a
quiet
corner
together.
38
An
adult
handler
stays
nearby
but
generally
lets
the
dog
perform
its
job
without
interfering
(干涉).
Sometimes,
a
handler
may
ask
a
question
that
encourages
the
child
to
work
with
the
dog
to
help
the
child
feel
more
comfortable.
Not
every
child
will
be
able
to
be
part
of
a
reading
therapy
program
that
uses
dogs.
A
few
children
might
be
allergic
to
dogs
or
afraid
of
them;
some
children
might
have
cultural
traditions
that
prevent
them
from
touching
a
dog.
39
Reading
therapy
programs
inspire
learning
and
change.
40
They
spend
time
with
human
friends.
For
dogs
that
love
human
companionship
and
a
quiet
place
to
rest,
being
part
of
a
reading
therapy
program
can
be
a
great
way
to
spend
a
few
hours
each
day.
The
readers
benefit
too,
gaining
confidence
and
learning
that
reading
aloud
can
be
a
relaxing
experience.
A.
How
do
the
therapy
dogs
benefit
from
it
B.
But
therapy
animals
also
serve
in
many
other
areas.
C.
As
the
child
reads,
the
dog
usually
lies
quietly
and
listens.
D.
When
reading
to
an
animal,
some
children
may
become
relaxed.
E.
In
these
circumstances,
other
animals
are
available,
such
as
cats
and
parrots.
F.
A
therapy
dog
is
more
of
a
companion
and
is
trained
to
help
people
in
different
ways.
G.
A
dog’s
handler
also
takes
a
class
and
must
pass
a
test
to
work
in
the
therapy
program.

第一节
完形填空(共20小题;每题1.5分,满分30分)
阅读下面短文,从短文后各题所给的四个选项(A,
B,
C和D)中,选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项,并在答题卡上将该项涂黑。
Liz
sighed,
“You
have
no
good
reason
to
make
me
41
Sara’s
party
next
Friday,
Mom,”
she
42
.
“You
don’t
even
know
her,
and
I
think
you’re
very
43
.
“No,
I
don’t
know
her.”
said
Mom.
“I
don’t
know
her
44
,
either,
and
that’s
45
why
I
can’t
let
you
go
to
the
party.
I’m
not
trying
to
46
your
fun.
I’m
just
trying
to
47
you
from
a
possible
bad
influence.”
She
smiled
at
Liz,
“Why
don’t
you
invite
Sara
over
for
dinner
48

Then
I
can
get
to
know
her
better.”
Liz
agreed
to
her
mother’s
49
,
and
a
few
days
later,
Sara
came
for
dinner.
As
Mom
cleared
the
table
after
the
dinner,
she
50
hearing
the
giggles
and
chatter
of
the
two
girls
in
the
next
room.
“Sara
seems
like
a
51
girl,”
said
Mom
after
Sara
had
been
taken
home,
“but
I
still
need
to
meet
her
parents

or
at
least
know
more
about
them

before
I
can
52
you
to
spend
the
night
there.”
As
Mom
spoke,
the
53
came
up
the
house,
and
Liz’s
dog,
GG

short
for
Good
Girl

ran
to
the
door.
She
barked
and
growled
54
.
“GG,
be
quiet!”
55
Liz.
She
turned
to
her
mother.
“Mom,
what
is
wrong
with
GG
She
should
know
the
mailman.”
She
asked.
“Because
she
has
just
had
her
56
,
she
wants
to
be
sure
they’re
57
,
so
she
doesn’t
quite
58
anyone
she
doesn’t
know
really
well.”
Mom
paused,
then
added,
“I
guess
a
lot
of
59
are
like
that

and
fathers,
too.
So
please
be
60
with
GG

and
with
me

as
we
mother
our
children.
Okay ”
Liz
looked
at
her
mother
in
surprise,
then
slowly
nodded.

第二节:(共10小题,每小题1.5分,共15分)
阅读下面材料,在空白处填入适当的内容(一个单词)或括号内单词的正确形式。
When
Jack
was
a
small
boy,
he
was
once
asked
to
give
a
speech
about
“A
Big
Challenge
in
My
Life”.
To
talk
before
the
whole
class,
he
was
61
(terrible)
shy.
However,
he
had
no
other
62
(choose),
though.
First
Jack
was
to
draft
the
speech,
63
was
a
piece
of
cake
for
him
because
he
was
a
good
writer.
But
the
hard
part
64
(lie)
in
his
oral
presentation,
for
65
was
not
allowed
to
read
the
paper.
A
real
trial
began
when
Jack
stood
on
the
platform
66
his
legs
trembling
and
his
mind
blank.
He
took
a
deep
breath
and
tried
his
best
67
(calm)
down.
Surprisingly,
it
did
work
on
him.
68
a
few
seconds,
he
was
no
more
nervous
and
finished
his
speech.
To
his
surprise,
he
made
it!
From
then
on,
his
fear
of
talking
before
a
big
audience
disappeared.
Actually
Jack
had
his
confidence
69
(build)
up.
Now
he
70
(turn)
out
to
be
a
good
speaker.
As
we
know,
the
greater
difficulty
we
meet
on
our
way
to
success,
the
more
likely
we
will
be
able
to
achieve
our
goals.

As
the
saying
goes,
chances
favored
the
prepared
mind.
I
learned
this
from
one
of
my
experience.
I
was
not
chosen
as
member
of
the
volleyball
team
of
our
school.
Because
of
this,
I
decided
to
give
up
play
volleyball.
Luckily,
my
best
friend
stopped
me
but
pointed
out
that
it
was
my
laziness
and
poor
preparation
which
led
to
my
failure.
After
that,
I
practiced
playing
volleyball
on
every
day.
When
another
tryout
arrived,
I
was
full
prepared
and
tried
my
best.
As
a
result,
I
was
selected
and
became
an
important
player
on
our
school
team.
From
this,
I
am
firmly
convincing
that,
no
matter
when
chances
arrive,
we
were
able
to
seize
them
as
long
as
we
get
well
prepared.
