Unit 11 I’m a doctor.
一、教学内容与要求
1. Let's check.听力练习检查学生对unit10所学内容的掌握情况。
2. Let's check…通过说有节奏、有韵律的歌谣学习与巩固本课所学的单词。
3. Let's sing. 通过歌曲的学习,激发学生的兴趣,巩固所学的单词。
4. Let's sing. 通过联想,培养学生运用新单词的能力。
二 、教学目标:
1.能学会本课的新单词: taxi driver, fire fighter, police officer, office worker, secretary, doctor, nurse, teacher cet.
2.能在一定的情景中运用本课的新单词。
3.培养学生的注意力和观察力,激发学生的积极思维,挖掘学生运用语言的创造能力。
三 、教具准备
本课的单词卡片;图片;录音机;磁带;电脑。
四、 教学过程
Class One
Conversation
Getting ready
Bring in some pictures of a doctor, a fire fighter and a magician from magazines/ newspapers, etc. (Use some of the picture cards if other pictures are not available.)
T: (Show a picture of a doctor.) Look. He’s/she a doctor. Repeat. Doctor. Ss: Doctor.
Continue with the fire fighter and magician.
Try to bring in several photos that show the same careers from different countries because the uniforms may by different.
Using the book
T: Let’s listen to the tape.
Hold up the book and point to the pictures.
T: Let’s listen and repeat.
Play the tape, pausing after each expression to have Ss repeat.
Put the Ss into four groups and give them the roles of Gogo, the doctor, the fire fighter and Tony.
Play the again, pausing after each sentence for each group to repeat its part.
Encourage groups to add emotions and facial expressions.
Vocabulary
Getting ready
Put picture cards 81-90 on the board, picture side up.
T: Look at the picture cards.
Say each word as you hold up the picture cards.
T: Now listen and repeat.、
Hold up each picture card, word side up and have Ss repeat.
Using the book
T: Listen to the tape and have Ss repeat.
Point to pictures at random and model sentences.
T: (point to the taxi driver.) He’s a taxi driver. Repeat. Ss: He’s a taxi driver.
Continue with the rest of the pictures.
Target
Getting ready
Bring in pictures of one female nurse and one girl.
T: (show the nurse). She’s a nurse.
T: (show the girl.) She’s a nurse, but she wants to be a nurse.
Write I’m a ________. And I want to be a______. On the board.
Put the picture of the nurse next to I’m a_______.
Put the picture of the girl next to I want to be a ______.
Using the book
Have Ss look at the pictures on the page.
Ask individual Ss to read out the sentences.
Play the tape a few times and have Ss practice with the tape.
Step 3 Summary
Today we have learned eight words and asking about and responding to questions about what one does or what one wants to be.
Step 4 Homework
1. Copy the new words.
2. Read P.55-56.

Have Ss look for the sentence I’m a taxi driver. On the page.
T: Write A in the box.

Practice 2
Getting ready
Have Ss look at the questions on the page.
T: A. (S1’s name), can you read the sentence S1: What does she do
Ask other Ss to read the other three questions.
Have all Ss practice reading aloud to themselves.
Using the book
Have Ss look at the pictures on the page.
T: Now look at A. What does she do
Have one student answer. S1: She’s secretary.
Continue with the rest of the pictures.
Have Ss answer truthfully for D. Give Ss extra vocabulary if necessary.
Put Ss into pairs and have them practice the Q&A exchanges.
Song activity
Getting ready
Point to the pictures around the lyrics.
T: (point to the office worker.) What does he do Ss: He’s an office worker.
Repeat with the other pictures.
Using the book
Ask individual Ss to read the lyrics.
T: Let’s sing the song! Let’s listen to the tape first.
Play the tape and point to each word as it is sung.
Play the tape again to have Ss practice singing.
Divide the class into two groups. One groups sings the questions and the other group sings the answers. Then switch.
Look and write
Getting ready
T: (point to the boy in picture A.) What’s he asking
Ss: What do you do
T: (point to the man in picture A.) What’s he saying
Ss: I’m a teacher.
Using the book
T: Look at picture B and write the sentences.
Give Ss time to write the sentences on the page...
Walk around the room to provide help if needed.
Continue with C and D.
Ask individual Ss to read their sentences to the class.
Copy the sentences P.56. two times.

1. (Use the cards, P.57.) Ask and answer.

T: Look at the picture. Look at the people in the classroom.
T: (point to the fire fighter.) What does he do
Ss: He’s a fire fighter.
T: (point to the nurse.) Is she a doctor
Ss: No, she’s not. She’s a nurse.
T: (point to a student.) What does he/she want to be
Ss: He/She want to be a secretary.
Using the book
Put Ss into pairs.
T: Ask your partner questions like these. (Point to the model questions at the bottom of the page.)
Give Ss time to work in pairs.
Walk around the classroom to check how Ss are doing.
Sounds and words
T: Let’s practice the sound /b /. Look at my mouth and repeat.
T: /b /. Ss: / b/
Make sure that Ss use both lips to make the sound.
Using the book
Have Ss look at the picture on the page.
T: Let’s listen to the tape.
Play the tape and Ss point to each word as the tape says it.
T: Let’s listen again and this time, repeat.
Have Ss repeat after the tape.
T: (point to the basketball player.) What does he do
Ss: He’s a basketball player.
Point to the rest of the pictures at random and ask the same question.
Read and say
Getting ready
Have Ss look at the pictures.
T: (point to B.) What does he do Ss: He’s a bus driver.
Ask Ss questions about the other pictures.
Using the book
T: Look at A. (S1’s name), can you read the sentence
S1: The barber has a big baby.
T: Now, can you find the sound / b / in the sentence Circle the words that have the sound / b /.
Continue with the rest.
Have Ss read the sentences aloud with natural speed.
