学习目标
语言知识
1. 能听、说、认读单词squid, lobster, shark, seal, whale和单位词ton, meter, kg, cm; 能听、说、认读短语和句子:can dive into the deep cold water \ jump out of water, Each up to 20 cm long.
2. 听、说、认读Let’s read部分内容,并能完成填充句子的练习。
3. 能正确完成Match and say连线、表述的练习和Let’s check部分听音圈图的练习。
语言技能
1. 要求学生能用英文的长度、重量单位来描述鲸的状况。
2. 要求学生能用形容词比较级谈论虎鲸和抹香鲸。
情感态度
1. 引导学生关注自然界中鲸的生存状况。
2. 在学习中通过游戏及各种竞赛活动培养学生合作意识。
重点
学生充分理解、会读文段内容;并能正确理解几个单位词:ton, kg, cm, mete

多媒体课件(或搜集的海中有关动物的图片)、自制词卡、录音机、录音带。
学生准备:有关虎鲸和抹香鲸的资料
准备活动
1. 情绪热身(1) Let’s sing. 师生共唱。
(2) 教师请学生唱自己改编的歌曲。
2. Free talk: How tall are you I’m … cm tall.
I’m taller and stronger than you.
How heavy are you I’m … kg.
How big are your feet
How long are your legs
教学过程
(一)分步学习短文中的重点语言
1. 教学squid, lobster, shark, seal, whale
(1)呈现单词:squid, lobster, shark, seal, whale
课件呈现大海的画面(或在黑板上用简笔画画出大海)。
T: Look at the sea. Is it beautiful
There are some animals living in the sea. Which animals live in the sea
Ss: …
学生用汉语说出即可。若说到有关本课时的词语,就呈现出该动物在水中游动的图画,随即出示该单词并认读
(2)练习单词:squid, lobster, shark, seal, whale
方法:鲸鱼吃了哪个动物?画面上正在游动的各种动物,忽然少了一个,学生回答鲸鱼吃了哪个动物。
2. 教学sperm whale, killer whale
(1)图片或课件出示这两种鲸鱼,认读两个单词:sperm whale, killer whale
(2)通过TPR练习
教师引导学生用手势做向下潜水的动作,同时说:“Act like a sperm whale. Act like a sperm whale.”练习数遍。
教师引导学生做向上跳的动作,同时说:“Act like a killer whale. Act like a killer whale.”练习数遍。
3. 教学can dive into the deep cold water, can jump out of water
教师在2中边说边做动作,适时引出短语并板书下面句子:A sperm whale can dive into the deep cold water.
A killer whale can jump out of water.
(二)运用歌曲/歌谣来突破重/难点句型
Sperm whale, sperm whale, I’m a sperm whale.
Dive, dive, I can dive. I can dive into the deep cold water.
I like eating; I like eating, squid, lobster and small sharks.
Killer whale, killer whale, I’m a killer whale.
Jump, jump, I can jump. I can jump out of water.
I like eating, I like eating, fish, birds, seals and even whales.
Come, come, come, and come with me. We will play in the sea.
(三)教学Let’s read
1. Watch VCD / Listen to the tape. Answer two questions.
(1) How long is a sperm whale
(2) How long is a killer whale
2. 读,划知识点:(1) length 长度 (2) in its length 在长度方面 (3) weight 重量 (4) skill技巧 (5) in its size 在形体大小方面
3. Listen and read in pairs and fill in the blanks.
4. 再读课文,解答疑惑。(先让学生解答,学生解答不了的老师解释。)
5. Read and answer the questions.

1. Match and say
(1) 教师可以让学生仔细看图,运用本单元四会单词描述七条鱼的大小、长短。
(2) 教师让学生把长度、大小不同的七条鱼随意与图中的七个主线人物连线。
(3) 学生两人一组根据连线情况用示范句型How big is Zhang Peng’s fish Amy’s fish is smaller than John’s.等进行表述,汇报交流,给予奖励。

Homework
1. Listen and read “Let’s read”. (听、读Let’s read。)
2. Try to talk about some kind of animal you know in the sea, with your classmates, teacher or parents. (试着用英语跟同学、老师或家长讨论大海中自己熟悉的某种动物。)
